Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. This role is for an innovative and dynamic individual with the ability and drive to lead the team for the mechanical design and development of spacecraft battery systems. In this role, you’ll apply research, and your considerable experience to develop high reliability battery systems producible in volume at lowest possible cost. This is very much a hands-on role, selecting and working with technology suppliers, and across multiple internal subsystems; Power system, Vehicle mechanics, Test, reliability, manufacturing, and operations. Responsibilities: · Mechanical Design for Spacecraft Battery systems · Working with Power Systems Engineer for system and lifetime requirements, identify available trade options for battery pack integration with vehicle – optimizing for size, weight,

· Bachelor’s or advanced degree in mechanical, or electrical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience · 7+ years of experience in the design, development, test, qualification and deployment of spacecraft systems · Experience in Lithium Ion battery pack system design · Experience with qualifying power systems for space. · 5+ years of experience with CAD · Experience managing teams and working with technology suppliers · Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in mechanical, electrical, materials engineering or related field · 10+ years of experience in the design, qualification, volume
