Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. This role is for an innovative and dynamic individual to develop the mechanical design of spacecraft battery systems. In this role, you’ll develop high reliability battery systems producible in volume at lowest possible cost. This is very much a hands-on role requiring design and detailed mechanical /thermal analysis of all aspects of spacecraft battery packs – all material selections, interconnect designs, connector selections, etc., to deliver a highly optimized module that can be manufactured/assembled/tested with high volume equipment. Responsibilities · Mechanical Design for Spacecraft Battery systems. · Design trades for battery pack integration with vehicle – optimizing for size, weight, assembly, cost. · Develop cell mounting schemes and high reliability interconnect methods

· Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience · 7+ years of experience in the design, development, test, qualification and deployment of spacecraft systems · 5+ years of experience with battery pack design · Experience with GD and T, and tolerance analysis · Experienced in material selections and mechanical analysis for space applications – identify and quantify loads (static, dynamic, thermal) to be experienced over product life; manufacture / assembly / test / integration/ launch deployment/ on-orbit ops. Experience applying extensive
