The technical documentation team for Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a Senior Documentation Manager for our Storage Services documentation team. In this role, you will lead our efforts to create and enhance our documentation for several AWS services, such as Amazon S3, AWS Snowball, AWS Storage Gateway and Amazon Kinesis. You will manage a team of writers who write content for these services, primarily focused on the IT Pro and developer audiences. You will be responsible for developing and growing the writers on your team. Your team documents AWS capabilities and APIs (both new services and new features for existing services); improves existing documentation; and manages feedback loops with customers. As a technical leader, you set the standard for excellence for our documentation, ensuring that we deliver technically accurate, well-written, simple, and customer-focused documentation. You’ll help set and be expected to deliver on goals for documenting new features and services, as
· 5+ years of technical communication experience · Experience with XML-based publishing systems and experience using multiple documentation tools to write, format, manage, and publish high-quality content · Experience writing for the IT Pro and Developer audiences · Experience managing a Technical Writing team and technical writing projects· Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science or related field highly desirable · At least 5 years of people management experience · Demonstrated ability to write example code or snippets for API reference documentation · Hands-on development/coding
