Amazon’s legal department is looking for an experienced patent attorney to provide patent counseling and portfolio development support to our ecommerce business, including groups in technology areas such as search, advertising, content creation, and personalization as they develop cutting edge solutions and create new customer experiences. As a member of the patent team, you will directly interact with the businesses and technology teams to protect new and innovative equipment and systems. Responsibilities include actively engaging developers and engineers to identify protectable aspects of their innovations, working with outside counsels on the preparation, filing and prosecution of our growing US and foreign patent portfolio, counseling clients regarding patent issues arising within the context of business
• 5+years of legal experience (with at least two years at a law firm) as a patent attorney. • Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in at least one state bar is required, along with a willingness to join the WA bar. • Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and personal experience preparing and prosecuting at least 20 patent applications relating to computer-implemented inventions. • Education and/or relevant work experience in technology areas such as machine learning, search and other web services, e-commerce, or digital content creation, transmission
