The Microsoft Trademark Group has an opening for an experienced trademark paralegal to join our award-winning team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge trademark issues and help drive Microsoft's worldwide trademark practice. Areas of coverage will include trademark clearance, counseling, conflicts, prosecution, and licensing.
• Conflicts: Coordinating with in-house trademark attorneys, outside counsel, and other paralegals in devising strategies for handling offensive and defensive conflicts worldwide; drafting and communicating cease and desist letters or e-mail to infringing parties; managing outside counsel in opposition matters ; conducting background research and gathering evidence in support of conflicts including discovery in litigation; assisting the trademark attorneys in developing enforcement and litigation strategies and reviewing pleadings in collaboration with Microsoft's Litigation Group, Digital Crimes
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience • 4+ years of experience as trademark paralegal in a law firm and/or corporation • International trademark clearance, prosecution and enforcement experience, including a working understanding of the Madrid Protocol • In-house legal experience preferred • Litigation support and/or contract drafting experience a plus • Must have passion for technology; excellent legal analytical, communication, writing, organizational, interpersonal, and client relations skills • Must be a team player
