Amazon is looking for a Research Scientist to help build next generation models in the Inventory Management Systems in the Supply Chain Optimization Technology group. We are a group of Research Scientists who answer questions on Amazon’s inventory control- both strategic and tactical. Our research powers core retail functions in 11+ countries, supporting +$80 billion revenue. As a Research Scientist in our group, you will work with other scientists, software engineers, product managers and business teams to understand the current challenges in Amazon’s selection automation and how they interact with the inventory systems, map these challenges to scientific models, innovate solutions to address those problems using techniques in assortment optimization, mathematical programming and prototype these solutions. Your work will be visible to the highest business leaders in the Supply Chain Optimization Technology organization and will impact on how we serve our customers so that they get the

* Advanced Degree in a Quantitative Field * 5+ years of combined industry and academic experience in optimization related problems * Formulate and prototype mathematical models involving uncertainty Training in at least one of following fields: stochastic processes, assortment optimization, revenue management, stochastic optimization * Skilled with R, MATLAB, Python or similar scripting language * Knowledge of optimization packages such as Gurobi, Xpress, CPLEX, CVX etc. * PhD in operations research * Ability to communicate clearly (must be able to must be able to explain mathematical models in
