Azure Engineering is seeking an economist to lead strategic efforts and execute econometric-based decision making for their compute workloads. The economist will apply economic theory, economic modeling, market design and build analytic capabilities within the organization by improving existing models or creating new models to inform strategic and tactical decision making.
The economist will work a cross multiple teams within the organization to identify and implement high impact strategic efforts where economics, experimentation and market design can be applied to improve capacity planning, demand forecasting, and pricing (among other things). Candidates should feel comfortable being self-directed. Examples of analysis include reduced form, multinomial logit models and structural demand modeling, using quasi-experimental variation to identify heterogeneous treatment effects, hierarchical Bayesian models and both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques
Required Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in an Economics Research role in the tech industry or academia. PhD in Economics or related field
