Come join a brand new team, EC2 Health Analytics, under EC2 Foundational Tech., to solve complex cutting-edge problems to power a faster, more robust and performant EC2 of tomorrow. The charter of our team is to improve customer experience on the EC2 fleet by analyzing hundreds of signals and driving next-generation detection and remediation tools across the cloud using Machine Learning and Data Analytics. A Research Scientist on this team must be comfortable working with large volumes of data and be able to manipulate data using a variety of tools. The ideal candidate possesses a good knowledge and set of hard skills across both predictive (machine learning) and prescriptive (optimization) analytics, or a deep knowledge and advanced skills in one of these two domains

· MS or PhD in computer science, engineering, statistics, machine learning, operations research, mathematics, or in another highly quantitative field · Depth and breadth in state-of-the-art approaches in forecasting, planning, machine learning, or optimization · 2+ years of relevant academic research or industry experience in developing algorithms · Scientific mindset and the ability to invent · Excellent creative problem solving skills · Ability to design and develop system prototypes in simulation · Fluency in at least one statistical software package such as R, Matlab · Some experience in optimization
