Description

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a strategic business development leader for the AWS Managed Service Provider Program (MSP). AWS is the world's leading cloud provider with the most comprehensive and broadly adopted portfolio of cloud services and an innovative community of customers and partners. Millions of customers—including the fastest-growing startups, largest enterprises, and leading government agencies—are using AWS to lower costs, become more agile, and innovate faster.

As a Business Developer for the MSP Program, you will define the strategic direction of how AWS engages with and grows the MSP partner ecosystem. You will identify market opportunities, shape the long-term vision for MSP partner collaboration, and influence cross-organizational strategy to drive measurable business outcomes. You will work directly with MSP partners to understand their evolving needs, co-develop growth strategies, and ensure AWS's MSP value proposition remains differentiated and compelling in a rapidly changing market.

This role has a global responsibility and you will influence and collaborate with a cross section of AWS leaders including solution architects, partner management, sales, technology, marketing, PR and executive leadership. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can see around corners, operate at the intersection of business strategy and partner development, and translate bold ideas into scalable initiatives that deliver results. You bring strong executive presence, the ability to influence without authority, and a bias toward action in ambiguous environments. Being a data-driven, analytical decision maker with excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking, are key in this role.

Key job responsibilities

- Define and drive the strategic vision for AWS's MSP partner ecosystem, identifying new market opportunities and shaping how AWS and MSP partners co-innovate and grow together

- Lead high-impact strategic initiatives from concept through execution — building the business case, aligning stakeholders, and delivering measurable partner and customer outcomes

- Engage directly with MSP partners at the executive level to understand their business models, identify growth levers, and co-develop joint strategies that accelerate mutual success

- Influence cross-functional AWS leadership (sales, technical, marketing, finance) to align investment and resources behind the MSP strategy

- Think Big — challenge the status quo, propose bold new approaches to partner engagement, and define what the next generation of MSP collaboration looks like

- Develop frameworks to evaluate strategic opportunities, prioritize bets, and measure the impact of initiatives on partner growth and AWS revenue

A day in the life

You start your day reviewing strategic progress against key initiatives — are partners adopting new programs, are joint go-to-market efforts driving pipeline? You engage directly with MSP partner executives to understand what's working, where friction exists, and what bold moves could unlock growth. You spend time crafting narratives that influence AWS leadership to invest in new strategic directions. You collaborate with cross-functional teams — not to manage their operations, but to align them around a shared vision and remove barriers to partner success. You end your day thinking about what's next: the whitespace in the market, the unmet partner needs, and the strategic bets that will define the MSP program's future.
