Description

Description:

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a world-class Principal Technologist to lead the execution and delivery of AI-native telecommunications solutions for next-generation networks. In this role, you will be the technical execution leader across customer co-design engagements, ecosystem partner integrations, and innovation incubation programs — translating 6G and AI strategy into deployed architectures and measurable customer outcomes.

You will own the end-to-end technical execution of AWS’s 6G and Network AI engagements with Tier-1 telecommunications operators — spanning RAN AI, non-terrestrial networks (NTN), agentic network frameworks, and AI control plane architectures. You will co-design solutions directly with customer engineering teams, lead proof-of-concept delivery, and drive the scaling of successful prototypes into production-ready offerings on the AWS platform.

This is a high-visibility, delivery-oriented role that combines deep hands-on technical expertise with the ability to orchestrate complex multi-stakeholder programs across customers, industry bodies, technology partners, and internal AWS teams. You will also lead crowdsourced innovation and incubation programs that accelerate the 6G and AI ecosystem.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead technical execution of AI-native network solution co-design with Tier-1 telecommunications operators — from architecture definition and proof-of-concept delivery through production scaling.

• Own the architecture and delivery of RAN AI, AI control plane, and agentic network framework solutions in partnership with customer engineering teams and AWS service teams.

• Drive non-terrestrial networks architecture and delivery — including direct-to-device, terrestrial-NTN interworking, and RAN AI control plane integration.

• Lead and scale crowdsourced innovation and incubation programs (hackathons, developer challenges, AI fellowship programs) that accelerate the 6G and AI ecosystem in partnership with industry bodies and technology partners.

• Represent AWS in industry forums and standards bodies (TM Forum, TIP, O-RAN Alliance) — driving contributions to AI-native network architectures and trusted AI frameworks.

• Orchestrate technology partner co-design programs across the semiconductor, RAN, and AI ecosystem — translating joint roadmaps into customer-deployable solutions.

• Build and lead a scaling function of Field Development Engineers (FDEs) and Solutions Architects to deliver 6G and AI customer engagements at scale.

• Author and deliver technical narratives, architecture documents, and solution proposals for AWS leadership and customer executives.

• Drive 1P innovation by partnering with AWS service teams to develop and integrate agentic network capabilities and AI control plane services into the AWS platform.

• Mentor and develop a community of builders — Solutions Architects, FDEs, and partner engineers — on best practices for AI-native network architecture and delivery.

A day in the life

You start your morning reviewing deployment progress on a proof-of-concept with a Tier-1 operator’s engineering team. By mid-morning, you’re leading an architecture review with AWS service team engineers and a technology partner to finalize the AI control plane design. After lunch, you join a working group at a global industry forum to drive consensus on an AI-native network framework. In the afternoon, you review submissions from a developer challenge you launched with an industry partner — scouting the next breakthrough idea. You end the day briefing leadership on a customer milestone, translating technical progress into strategic impact.

About the team

This role sits within AWS’s Telecommunications practice, working at the frontier of AI-Native networking with Tier-1 global operators. The team co-develops next-generation network AI solutions in partnership with the world’s leading telecommunications companies and industry bodies, spanning network intelligence, autonomous operations, and 6G research.

This is a high-impact position with direct access to AWS leadership and senior customer executives. You will shape a multi-year technology and business strategy driving bleeding-edge data and AI research and development for the telecommunications industry.
