Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Key job responsibilities

* Lead the design and analysis of distributed software systems.

* Develop embedded software in C, C++, or other modern languages.

* Developing cloud native software systems in Java, Rust or C++.

* Utilize AWS and other services to build highly available and performant services.

* Be part of the 24x7 operational rotation to support satellite operations.

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

About the team

The Satellite Embedded Software Team owns the software that actually resides on the satelliteā€™s flight computer, as well as many of the sensors and actuators which integrate with it. We are looking for an outstanding software engineer to participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations.



Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems



Extended Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

- Experience with low-level programming and embedded systems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
