Success in any organization begins with its people and having a comprehensive understanding of our workforce and how we best utilize their unique skills and experience is paramount to our future success.AWS is looking for an exceptional Workforce Planning Leader with a strong delivery record in bringing together diverse, cross-functional teams to drive an integrated Workforce Planning Go-To-Market (GTM) plan that will support empowering leaders to make long-term decisions on the size, composition, and cost of their organizations, with a focus on embedding all capabilities seamlessly into the existing rhythms of the business. This leader will partner with our key stakeholders across finance, HR, Ops to advance the workforce planning capability for the company. This leader will also have depth in building and managing a team of highly talented applied and data scientists, business intelligence engineers and analysts with expertise in employing workforce and human behavior insights, operations research and machine learning techniques to build models and algorithms that enable the acceleration of revenue growth, improved operational efficiencies & delivery through a workforce plan of optimized size, skill, level, and geography in service of predictably accelerating product innovation, and enhancing the customer experience.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Analytics & Consultative Guidance:
- Develop the next generation of Supply/Demand ML Predictive Analytics & Forecasting models providing simulations, what-if analytics, and prescriptive analytics functionality
- Facilitate business case development and prioritization of opportunities based on ROI & feasibility assessment.
- Provide business executives and stakeholders with thought-leadership and insights to enable continuous improvement across key financial, performance, and consumer metrics.
- Partner with key stakeholders to create accurate financial forecasts and identify key drivers impacting performance versus benchmarks
- Leverage data and analytics to identify emerging issues/trends affecting customers or operations
- Directly work alongside Data Science team to scope and develop advanced autonomous Machine Learning systems to further improved existing forecasting and prediction capabilities within WFP
Project Management: Manage analytical projects by leveraging agile methodologies to partner across business functions, meet deliverables, and actively champion solution adoption across the business.
- Use statistical, machine learning techniques to build models that address business needs.
- Extracts data from various data sources; performs exploratory data analysis, cleanses, massages, and aggregates data
- Work cross functionally with other data scientists, statisticians, and business analysts to define business problems and implement solutions
- Connects insights to business decision making options and next steps testing or research opportunities
- Understands business initiatives and serves as primary analytic resource in discussions with business partners to define business questions
- Drives creation of final insights package and recommendations; leads presentation
- Directs analytic component of implementation of insights into business processes and ensures appropriate testing takes place
- Develops project proposals, gains stakeholder buy-in, and ensures timelines are met
- Promotes and advocates value of advanced analytics to solve business problems within department
Requirements Gathering: Conduct interviews with key business stakeholders to translate business objectives into analytical project deliverables to realize business goals.
Data Preparation: Write high quality code and organize data structures to efficiently drive scalable workflows and analyze data.
Data Governance: Develop, maintain and perform processes to continuously monitor data quality and integrity
A day in the life
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing the business strategy, tracking the efficacy of plans across the business to drive sustainable growth within and beyond the current fiscal year. You will lead the definition and orchestration of strategic go-to-market (GTM) plans, leveraging machine learning to map enterprise strategies into actionable delivery plans. This will guide data-driven business decisions, enabling you to predict outcomes, understand complex data relationships, and develop quantitative return on investment analyses. Additionally, you will be tasked with sponsoring and implementing optimization tactics, such as process reengineering, analytical solutions, and resource/skills solutions, to maximize efficiency across delivery groups.
You will recruit and set the vision and direction for a high quality, creative and results driven data science team. You will play a key role on the leadership team that is influencing the long-range plans for the business and technical agenda that will support it and you will work closely with the business and technology teams

Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in Analytics, Data Science, Business Intelligence or other quantitative disciplines and • Familiarity with probability, probability distributions, statistics and causal inference
• 5+ years of experience working cross-functionally to implement new solutions and concepts
• 4+ years of analytical people management experience
Track record of influencing senior executives
Experience leading large scale complex programs with proven results
• Demonstrated experience developing successful analytics-based solutions to business problems
Extended Qualifications
• MS degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Mining, or other quantitative field• Expertise in estimation, experimental design, hypothesis and A/B testing
• Ability to work cross-functionally and with others with diverse skill sets
• Experience with writing academic-styled papers for presenting both the methodologies used and results for data science projects
• Ph.D. in Science, Engineering, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative fields
• Knowledge of data warehouse and AWS services
• Knowledge of various machine learning techniques and key parameters that affect their performance

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $175,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $302,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
