Description
Corporate Development is seeking inventive and engineering-obsessed technologists to relentlessly improve the evaluation and integration of acquisitions across Amazon. This Technical Program Manager (TPM) will contribute in every stage of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and build a strong community of technology leaders across Amazon and its subsidiaries. This includes 1) developing technical due diligence strategies with senior technology leaders across Amazon and AWS, 2) evaluating findings and associated risks with acquisition targets to inform and influence transaction stakeholders, and 3) partnering with acquisition sponsors to define essential technology integration tasks unique to the needs of every transaction. TPM also identifies common engineering integration problems and codifies learnings to apply on future acquisitions.Successful TPMs achieve scale through educating and enabling technical leaders at our acquisitions, while also leading active engagement with the broader subsidiary technical community. This requires perpetual invention and experimentation, with limited precedence or top-down prescriptive guidance. Success is ultimately measured through the achievements and productivity of our acquired teams and businesses. While excellent written and verbal communications are essential for any successful TPM at Amazon, they are mission-critical in this role to both 1) communicate upwards to VPs across Corp Dev and acquiring businesses to provide concise assessments of technical inputs supporting, or challenging specific acquisition rationale, and 2) lead newly acquired engineers and leaders by example through written communications to navigate cross-team collaboration and decision making.
The TPM’s broader responsibilities include:
- Working with CorpDev and acquiring business and technology teams in 1) supporting and leading technical due diligence of Amazon’s acquisitions, and 2) defining and enabling execution of technical integration goals and projects.
- Enabling acquired engineering team productivity by driving projects across various Amazon functions including Security, CorpIT and Legal.
- Developing and leading training programs to help subsidiaries understand how to work with and operate as Amazon engineering teams.
- Defining and implementing programs at subsidiaries to improve their engineering practices in areas such as operational excellence, software development lifecycle, and security.
- Developing mechanisms to help subsidiaries across all of Amazon share technology, expertise and learnings.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
Extended Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
