Application deadline: May 2, 2026The Retail Food Safety (RFS) Program Specialist (PS) is responsible for win-win partnerships with third-party (3P) vendors, including but not limited to, 3P Food Safety (FS) auditors, chemical suppliers, pest control vendors, and software providers. The PS partners with multiple company stakeholders to include Operations and vendors ensuring all foods sold in our global retail stores are safe for our customers, compliant with all FS legal requirements, and meet consumer expectations. Success is measured by healthy vendor key performance indicator (KPI) scorecards, Operations’ feedback, and maximized vendor services.
The individual in this role will be responsible for directly supporting the Pest Control Program Manager (PM).
This is an office-based position and will report to the Senior Manager of Food Safety and work closely with regional leadership, facilities and third-party vendors.
Key job responsibilities
The role needs a results-oriented, analytical, customer service approach to drive important decisions, measure progress, and improve risk management and/or customer experience. In this position, the candidate will:
- Support program(s) with detailed attention to program strategy, project delegation, and program implementation
- Deliver clear, concise, and well-organized communication and reports for stakeholders
- Proactively monitor program progress, resolve issues, and initiate appropriate corrective actions
- Collaborate with Store, Regional, and Global Leadership to implement process improvements aligned with Global Food Safety policy
- Create documentation supporting Standard Operating Procedures and training requirements
- Review metrics to govern vendor performance and ensure third-party vendors comply with statement of work
- Utilize company technology to align processes resulting in enhanced food safety compliance
- Track goals, vendor performance, costs, and anticipated risks
- Identify trends in data from third-party food safety audit providers, pest control service providers, chemical providers, and regulatory agency inspections
- Support escalations and understand cross-functional impacts
- Support vendor setup in new store openings, remodels, and relocations
- Manage access to third-party vendor services and data
- Participate in vendor business reviews and KPI vendor scorecards
- Support harmonization of service programs when applicable
- Follow guidance of the Retail Food Safety Standardization Handbook
- Liaise with regulatory agencies as required
- Support compliance with and adherence to established standards and practices, including health, sanitation, and safe work practices
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)- BA/BS degree and 2-4 years relevant experience OR equivalent education and relevant experience
- Food Safety Certifications: Registered Sanitarian (RS), Certified Professional Food Safety (CP-FS), or Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS), or willing to achieve certification within 6 months
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to physically perform general office requirements
- Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations
- Physical requirements: Maximum 50 pounds lifting unassisted; in an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 1-4 hours and sitting 6-8 hours; hand use for fine manipulation with some pushing and pulling; work motions including twisting and reaching
- Travel including overnight trips may be required

- Experience in food safety or other compliance-related roles
- Experience interacting with regulatory agencies, research organizations, and industry/trade associations
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting
- Ability to utilize discretion with impact to cross-functional teams and processes
- Expertise to determine solutions to complex problems with high impact to the business
- Sound judgment in selecting methods, tools, techniques, and evaluation criteria
- Ability to work independently with guidance on complex situations
- Ability to act as a resource for colleagues with less experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
