Description
Global Transportation Services sits at the center of Amazon's Outbound Transportation Supply Chain. We collaborate across Amazon internal "Last Mile" and "Middle Mile" teams as well as with our external delivery partners to ensure on time delivery and fast delivery speed at the right cost structure. Our Finance team works closely with Program Managers, Tech, and Product Managers to track performance reporting and support analysis for optimization of capacity planning, supply chain design, and transportation execution to deliver for our customers.Global Transportation Services seeks a Finance Analyst who is a creative problem solver to support our growth while gaining excellent Operations Finance experience. This role will work closely with cross-functional business and finance leaders across multiple Transportation organizations and other internal Amazon businesses allowing for learning across the company and visibility into the exciting work going on in Operations. Our teams oversee large scopes providing for a rich career growth environment.
This role partners closely with a broad range of global finance and business leaders across Canada transportation carrier teams. The role also has stakeholders in country leaders and capacity planning teams. This role works with research scientists, technical product managers, and software developers. This role designs, develops, and maintains performance measurements and reports on strategic input drivers to continuously improve the economics of the business.
The successful candidate has demonstrated the following abilities: they influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. They collaborate with executives and various business units across Amazon. You bring excellent verbal and written communication skills. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate by building creative solutions with large-scale data mining tools, identifying the high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, and solving complex problems that effect company-wide strategic decisions.
Key job responsibilities
- Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.
- Delivers weekly/monthly financial close. Uses financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.
- Creates effective business partnerships, manages competing priorities, and provides guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events
- Uses active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.
- Collects and analyzes quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions.
- Identifies opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves, scales, or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.
- Contributes to work life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience- 3+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
- 3+ years of contributing to cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
Extended Qualifications
- 3+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- MBA, or CPA

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
