Amazon is seeking a motivated and data-driven category manager to support the Americas data center operations space. The candidate should have strong supply chain and procurement skills, analytical and financial acumen, communication capabilities and a hands-on passion to dive-deep into processes used in our data center operations network. Additionally, candidate must have proven skills in managing large-scale supply chain and procurement improvement projects.

As a Category Manager, you will create and implement sourcing strategies within the New Product Introduction category and collaborate with internal business partners and suppliers to drive efficiencies, reduce risks, and costs for Amazon. You will develop mechanisms and metrics to hold suppliers accountable for performance and delivery. You will drive results through methods that include competitive bidding, negotiating, and analyzing data and market trends for your category.

* Deliver a 'right first time' external supply and champion the global strategic procurement process for all categories on assigned NPI programs.

* Provide input to the Senior NPI Procurement Manager regarding the allocation of time to NPI projects so the Procurement resources required to support NPI projects across the business can be compiled; proactively highlight where resources challenges may exist

* Utilize a standard Procurement tracker for every NPI project to provide clear input into the project team on when information (drawings, specifications, etc) will be required to support the program timing. Escalate in a timely fashion where information is not provided on-time.

* Complete standard documentation to support the Procurement input into the NPI gateway process; ensuring this is created for all NPI Projects.

* In collaboration with R&D and Program Management ensure that Supplier Statement of Work's (SSOW's) are created for critical components to ensure a clear and detailed requirements specification can be provided to suppliers at the RFQ stage.

* Keep a record of all design changes during the NPI development phase and the commercial impact of each change.

* Drive the creation of sourcing recommendations in line with category strategies and program requirements, to meet cost, quality, delivery and performance targets. Ensure cross functional stakeholder agreement to sourcing recommendations for assigned NPI programs.

* Utilize strategic Procurement tools and techniques to drive maximum value (eProcurement, TCO, 'Should-Cost' Modelling, etc).

* Provide regular status report on the Procurement status of assigned NPI projects highlighting clear performance against KPI's & objectives.

* Work with the Indirect Category team to identify suppliers and negotiate best pricing for all CAPEX requirements - Tooling, Jig & Fixtures, etc.

* Support new product R&D and Sales strategies through the identification of suppliers who offer new technologies to support the future roadmap.

* Ensure that supplier contracts are implemented/updated to cover NPI content.

* Challenge Make vs Buy assumptions to ensure the right decision are made in terms of where components should be produced to deliver the best results for Smiths

Interconnect. Work with R&D and Global Category Managers to maintain knowledge of market factors that could have an impact on the business to allow for effective discussion and negotiating with technical personnel both within Smiths Interconnect and the supplier network.

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, Operations, or other field from an accredited university or 7+ years relevant experience

- 5+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement , operational and financial analysis

- 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, inventory management and operations

- 5+ years experience sourcing New products and services



Extended Qualifications

- Masters degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering or Operations.

- Experience in data centers, engineering, an infrastructure service provider or similar technology company.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
