Description

Overview

Microsoft Frontier Company is redefining how enterprises transform — bringing agentic AI, cloud-scale computing, data, simulation, and human expertise together so customers turn ambition into measurable business impact. As customers look to reinvent how work gets done — redesigning business processes, operating models, and human-agent ways of working across industries and functions, from financial services and telecommunications to manufacturing, retail, the public sector, and R&D-intensive discovery — they need more than a platform. They need partners fluent in both business and technology who can turn strategic ambition into working, governed, and economically sound solutions. This role has three dimensions: shaping customer outcomes, orchestrating and guiding delivery and building the repeatable motions that scale transformation.

We are seeking a Principal Transformation Partner with the mindset, executive presence, and leadership to define and shape ambiguous, first-of-kind transformation opportunities. You will work directly with business and technology leaders, account teams, industry specialists, and Microsoft product engineering to set the direction for high-value scenarios and turn a customer’s strategic ambition into executable transformation blueprints. Operating as part of — and often orchestrating — a multidisciplinary Transformation Squad, you serve as the bridge between business outcomes, AI-native operating models, and Microsoft’s technologies, shaping strategy from pre-sales through delivery and converting them into repeatable motions that scale across customers and industries.

This is a role for builders who thrive in ambiguity, move comfortably from high-level customer needs to whiteboard to working solution, and are energized by solving complex problems in the real world. You will help customers reimagine how people and AI agents work together — redesigning processes and experiences so the new operating model is intuitive, governed, and economically sound — while defining the repeatable patterns, product feedback, and delivery motions that others adopt to scale this frontier AI business. Every solution begins with AI and human collaboration, with explicit return on investment designed in from the start. If you are excited to co-create with customers, unlock new possibilities, and help establish one of Microsoft’s most strategic AI growth motions, this role is for you.

This is a business-and-technology leadership role, not a deep technical SME position. You are conversant across both worlds — setting direction in architecture and technology discussions and translating between business outcomes and technical delivery . You guide and orchestrate delivery rather than run it yourself. Your edge is connecting ambition, value, and technology at scale, and mobilizing the right specialists across the engagement.

Responsibilities

Transformation Leadership & Squad Orchestration

Owns the customer engagement and vision as the trusted advisor across the full lifecycle — shaping ambiguous, first-of-kind opportunities, translating executive ambition into outcomes, and holding continuity of vision from pre-sales through delivery.Sets the direction for ambiguous, first-of-kind transformation: turning strategic ambition into an executable blueprint that defines the business processes, operating model, and human-agent workflows to be redesigned and the measurable outcomes each change will deliver.Partners across teams to define AI-native human-agent operating models and shape seamless experiences that accelerate adoption and drive new ways of working..Orchestrates the One Microsoft team — determining squad composition and sequencing the capabilities across pre-sales and delivery, and often leading the trio within Frontier Co..Sets the repeatable engagement method for ambiguous, first-of-kind opportunities — shaping the transformation vision, directing the AI maturity assessment, driving bold ideas, and using rapid prototyping to build conviction towards a new AI-enabled operating models.Understanding Customer/Partner Technical Environment

Gathers and synthesizes customer and partner insights from a broad range of stakeholders, including the business sponsor, to shape both the definition and ongoing execution of the engagement. Adapts business models, plans, and solutions in response to those insights.Uses evidence-based approach to function as a customer advocate and drives awareness of insights with a view for improving Microsoft technologies, products, services, and offerings such that they can better meet customer/partner needs. Shaping the Architecture for Business Outcomes

Sets the architecture direction from the business outcome inward, working with — and often steering — the delivery and platform architects who own the technical design and build. Holds a single gate over every architectural choice — the value of the unit of work — so each component earns its place by the outcome it delivers, not by technical elegance.Owns the value hypothesis and validates the baseline and target KPIs for the transformation, and holds the causal link between the unit of work and those outcomes — so every agentic task, workflow, and component traces to a measurable business result. Owns this value and outcome traceability across the engagement; the technical requirements and design artifacts are owned by the platform and delivery architects.Directs and sequences proofs of concept (POCs) and MVPs delivered by the technical specialists, using each to prove the causal link between the unit of work and the target KPIs — and to validate the unit economics, including token economics, so the solution is viable at scale.Works with the business sponsor and stakeholders to ratify the outcomes, constraints, and success measures, and ensures acceptance criteria trace to the value hypothesis rather than to technical output alone. The technical requirements/constraints traceability and test execution are run by the delivery and platform architects.Owns a realistically costed solution approach anchored to the value case and its economics, balancing existing offerings with new, first-of-kind approaches where the scenario demands. Orchestrates the build across Enterprise AI Platforms, FDE, and Regional Delivery through to live operations — steering and sequencing rather than running the build — and keeps the delivered unit of work aligned to the committed outcome.Anticipates and removes the scenarios that could slow or impede pre-sales and delivery, engaging the broader Microsoft team on technical blockers and the account/project team on non-technical issues. Aligns specialists and coordinates disparate approaches into a single plan of action, escalating only genuinely cross-organizational risks.Works in close collaboration with the Project Manager and Account Team to categorize and communicate business and technical risks. Identifies risks, defines the risk mitigation activities that are foundational to the project plan, and defines the risk contingency plans to be invoked should a risk occur.Practice Development

Originates new intellectual property and reusable assets that are adopted beyond the original engagement, drives product and engineering feedback from customer evidence, and champions Recommended Practices across pre-sales and delivery. Leads internal and external communities.Trusted Advisor

Builds and leverages a senior network of internal and external relationships to influence executive and principal-level stakeholders, unblock strategic issues, and align multiple organizations. Develops deep knowledge of Microsoft’s technologies, products, and services in order to communicate Microsoft’s mission, strategy, and capabilities.Uses evidence-based arguments that articulate complex concepts in a simple manner to respectfully challenge Microsoft and customers/partners when a decision or course of action will not produce optimal results. Escalates scenarios as appropriate. Serves as the "technical conscience" to challenge the status quo and unrealistic expectations. Resolves conflicts and seeks resolution to balance the overall outcome when needed. Understands competitor solutions and identifies how customer business value can be driven through Microsoft's offerings. Demonstrates the benefits of the solution in customer/partner conversations. Thought Leadership

Shares ideas, insight, and technical input with virtual team members (e.g., Account team, enterprise channel managers) using a working knowledge of specific Microsoft architectures and other relevant products. Participates in external architect community events (e.g., conferences, seminars, technical meetups, Webcasts, blogs, hackathons) and shares learnings with .
