The Azure Host and Innovation Team builds the foundation for our next generation Cloud offerings. We are on the forefront of modern hosting and are accountable for the platform that supports our industry-leading AI Infrastructure.The Next Generation Host and Infrastructure Program Management Team is responsible for the design, strategy, and execution of our vision to deliver the core platform for Microsoft Azure: The World’s AI Supercomputer.
We have resources, industry connections, and proven global leadership that helps us to continue delivery of exponential platform innovations. We focus on building platform experiences that power Azure AI Datacenters to run state of the art AI Computing powering Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Cloud Services, etc. You will have an opportunity to become a part of a strategic and innovative team, with Microsoft-wide impact, while helping us take on competitors such as Amazon and Google.
We are hiring an experienced Principal Technical Program Manager to drive the Next Generation Host for Microsoft Azure. This role will emphasize efficiency, performance, and innovative design and will collaborate with numerous peers across our engineering Program Management and Development Teams across the business. This role will require you to collaborate extensively on our Azure AI Infrastructure, align strategic delivery with our Hardware Innovation Team, and many other internal partners to achieve performance targets that do not yet exist within the industry today.

Defines the program(s) goals and prioritization for various capabilities, features, or solutions across multiple products or functional areas (e.g., product, service, systems) they own and across divisional boundaries. Translates the needs of the organization and other teams into program goals and prioritized deliverables based on data insights and aligns them with the overarching organizational strategy and key stakeholder needs. Drives and initiates risk management (proactive and reactive) to identify risks and propose mitigations. Leverages complex data (e.g., telemetry, usage, net satisfaction, customer satisfaction) and tools (e.g., artificial intelligence, automation) to build more informed risk mitigation plans. Provides solutions or recommendations to and aligns with stakeholders to make complex decisions based on data-driven identified risks and tradeoffs.Works with relevant teams (e.g., Engineering, Marketing, Design, Security) to design architecture and integrated customer solutions to highly complex technical needs for multiple products or functional areas (e.g., product, service, systems) across divisional boundaries. Works with internal and external technical partners and/or architects to represent technical solutions to customers. Reviews solution and design documents and architecture proposals, and may provide approvals. Understands what options are available and leads others to identify and select best option for needs, and creates new solutions if needed. Works with architects and technical partners to develop future proof architecture.Defines success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., objectives and key results [OKRs], key performance indicators [KPIs] such as quality and performance) for programs, solutions, services, or integrated systems across multiple functional areas and across divisional boundaries. Leads collaborations with partners and/or stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, Design) to ensure needed telemetry is developed. Deeply understands the return on investment and presents it to senior leadership. Mentors others on how to define success and performance metrics.Identifies and provides recommendations to improve compliance programs and processes for privacy, security, accessibility, quality, responsibility, safety, and other legal and business requirements and standards.Analyzes use-case and scenario outcomes and performance targets against business goals. Analyzes test cases for gaps to champion quality improvement across teams.Acts as a technical advisor to educate and evangelize the products or functional areas (e.g., product, service, systems) across divisional boundaries they work on with customers via meetings, presentations, and other forums. Defines and leads direct customer (internal and/or external) engagements to solicit feedback and understand their experiences with products or functional areas (e.g., product, service, systems) across divisional boundaries.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmentOR equivalent experience.3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis,OR product developmentOR equivalent experience.8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
