Join Microsoft as a Cloud & AI Platform (CAIP) Apps Solution Engineer supporting strategic enterprise customers across Australia and New Zealand. In this technical sales role, you will partner with customers to modernize applications, accelerate AI-infused app development, and turn business priorities into real production outcomes on Azure.
You will help customers design and implement cloud-native applications, APIs, microservices, integration patterns, and agentic workflows that combine Azure application platform services, Azure AI Foundry, and GitHub Copilot. You will partner across ANZ and broader APAC engagements, extending technical leadership through workshops, design sessions, hands-on labs, and customer acceleration activities.
As a trusted technical advisor, you will:
Lead Apps + AI transformation conversations with business and technical decision-makers
Drive end-to-end scenarios across application modernization, intelligent apps, APIs, integration, and agentic workflows
Translate Microsoft's Apps + AI platform - including Azure app services, Azure AI Foundry, and GitHub Copilot - into measurable customer outcomes
This role requires deep expertise in Apps + AI (400-level) and working knowledge of data platform, governance, and AI grounding patterns (200-300 level) required for production intelligent applications.
Responsibilities
Drive technical sales and solution design
Lead customer engagements using demos, PoCs, architecture workshops, hands-on labs, and hackathons to land scalable Apps + AI solutions.
Own application modernization and intelligent app strategy conversations
Guide customers across cloud-native architecture, app modernization, APIs, microservices, containers, integration patterns, and AI-infused application design.
Accelerate production adoption
Run MVPs, design sessions, and technical enablement to move customers from experimentation to secure, governed, production-ready implementation.
Build trusted advisor relationships
Partner with application leaders, enterprise architects, platform teams, and engineering teams to co-design resilient, secure, observable, and scalable solutions.
Drive GitHub Copilot and developer productivity outcomes
Drive GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted engineering scenarios, helping customers improve developer productivity, software quality, and AI-powered software delivery practices.
Resolve blockers and influence roadmap
Address technical objections, unblock customer adoption, and collaborate with product engineering to improve Microsoft offerings.
Maintain deep technical expertise (Apps + AI-first focus)
Expert (400-level) in:
Azure application platform services, including App Service, Azure Functions, Container Apps, AKS, API Management, Event Grid, Service Bus, and Logic Apps
Application modernization patterns, including cloud-native architecture, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, DevOps, resiliency, observability, and security
Azure AI Foundry / Azure AI services for intelligent applications, copilots, agentic workflows, and AI-enabled business processes
AI application architecture patterns, including agent orchestration, MCP implementations, tool integration, grounding strategies, and production AI application lifecycle management
GitHub and GitHub Copilot patterns for AI-assisted software delivery, developer productivity, and secure engineering practices
Advanced/Working level (200-300 level) in:
Data services and governance concepts that enable intelligent applications, including Azure databases, Fabric, Databricks, Purview, and data grounding patterns
Data grounding, retrieval-augmented generation, governance, and analytics patterns that support production AI applications
Represent Microsoft externally
Contribute to thought leadership across Apps, AI, developer, and customer communities through briefings, workshops, forums, and field enablement.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in technical pre-sales, consulting, software engineering, cloud architecture, or application platform engineering
Demonstrated 400-level expertise in application modernization, cloud-native application architecture, integration patterns, and Apps + AI solution design
200-300 level familiarity with Data + AI architectures, including data platforms, databases, governance, and analytics patterns that support intelligent applications
Proven ability to engage enterprise customers and influence technical decision-makers across application, platform, data, security, and engineering teams
Strong ability to align technical solutions with customer business outcomes and field sales priorities
Experience leading technical engagements such as PoCs, MVPs, architecture design sessions, hands-on labs, workshops, and hackathons
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with end-to-end application modernization, including legacy app assessment, migration, refactoring, API strategy, cloud-native redesign, and production operations
Hands-on experience with Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Container Apps, AKS, API Management, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure Developer CLI, and related developer tooling
Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, agentic workflows, copilots, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, and responsible AI practices
Experience with GitHub, GitHub Advanced Security, GitHub Actions, and GitHub Copilot adoption or enablement
Ability to shape customer strategy through technical leadership, storytelling, executive-ready architecture narratives, and hands-on execution
