Overview

We are looking for a Security Consultant to join Microsoft Federal.

Responsibilities

Technical Delivery

The ideal candidate will possess solid hands‑on technical and consultative expertise with Microsoft Security solutions and demonstrated experience contributing to the design, implementation, and operationalization of cybersecurity solutions within classified or mission‑sensitive federal environments – particularly those aligned to Zero Trust principles. Lead &/or participate in meetings with customers/partners to understand business needs and technology strategies to map customer/partner requirements to the adoption and optimization of Microsoft technology solutions. Engage other stakeholders appropriately to understand and define customer requirements.Implement solutions and provide leadership on workstreams across domains while adhering to Industry Solutions processes. Align solutions with the intent of a defined architecture.Deliver security solutions following delivery practices, considering cost implications, and engaging in conversations with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Customer Service and Support, Project Manager, Solution Architect, Product Group) as needed.Work with account team to ensure One Microsoft approach. Share lessons learned with workgroup and consultant community.Participate in project planning and develop project documents by identifying the risks and dependencies.Communicate the business value of planned solutions to customers/ partners. Identify technical and business risks in programs and proposes mitigations. Assist project managers/architects in preparing for steering committee (e.g., developing artifacts). Manage their schedule and communicates with project leads. Generate and delivers Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). The ideal candidate will possess solid hands‑on technical and consultative expertise with Microsoft Security solutions and demonstrated experience contributing to the design, implementation, and operationalization of cybersecurity solutions within classified or mission‑sensitive federal environments – particularly those aligned to Zero Trust principles.Technical SkillsDesired experience includes hands‑on delivery and/or solution design in Microsoft Azure and one or more of the following Microsoft security areas:Identity & Access Security: Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Identity Governance, hybrid identity (Entra Connect), certificate‑based authentication (CBA), and integration with enterprise PKI or federal ICAM patterns.Endpoint & Device Security: Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE), endpoint detection and response (EDR), attack surface reduction (ASR), MDM/MAM, and secure device posture enforcement.Threat Protection & SOC Enablement: Microsoft Defender XDR and Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM/SOAR), such as log ingestion, KQL‑based detection, basic threat hunting, incident response workflows, and security automation/playbooks.Cloud Security & Workload Protection: Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Defender for Cloud Apps (CASB), Azure workload protection, and security monitoring for IaaS/PaaS resources.Information Protection & Data Security: Microsoft Purview Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Insider Risk Management, and compliance capabilities.Security Posture & Compliance Support: Secure Score, vulnerability and exposure management, and continuous monitoring activities aligned to NIST RMF, DoD STIGs, or similar frameworks.

Intellectual Property Management

Act as an ambassador in the consumption of intellectual property (IP) by leveraging and/or modifying existing IP or creating repeatable content where applicable. Provide feedback on Managed IP for continuous improvement, reports IP gaps, review IP to be considered for harvesting and curation and ensures it is logged for consumption. Improve Industry Solutions offerings quality and collaborates with portfolio and solution teams by providing feedback.

Readiness

Learn new technologies or services based on business demands and industry trends. Obtain relevant accreditations and certification(s) as advised by domain leadership team. Identify certifications and readiness plans in partnership with World Wide Learning. Lead or participate in relevant technical communities and conducts training sessions to evangelize technology and/or offerings based on availability. Mentor team members and act as a technical advisor for stakeholders by providing thought leadership, articulation of solutions value, and outcomes of business strategies.

Operational Excellence

Complete operational tasks and readiness and ensure timeliness and accuracy. Follow Microsoft policies, compliance, and procedures (e.g., Enterprise Services Authorization Policy, Standards of Business Conduct, labor logging, expenses, travel guidelines).

Lead by example and guide team members on operational tasks, readiness, and compliance.

Business Development

Identify opportunities to expand or accelerate the adoption and consumption of cloud and Microsoft technologies. Facilitate, as appropriate, other team members to scale the business with existing customers by articulating value propositions of strategic Microsoft products and services and developing new offerings for the domain. Drive innovation and digital transformation. Ensure the use of the existing intellectual property (IP).

Pre-Sales Support

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Solution Architect, Pursuit Lead, Consulting Account Executive) in the pre-sale process by understanding business requirements and providing industry and technical input and/or solution offerings to help shape the deal. Support drafting proposals and/or statement of work (SOW). Provide input on staffing and skill requirements for delivery to Resource Deployment, Technical Delivery Managers (TDMs), and/or Project Managers.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related field OR equivalent experience AND 1+ year(s) work experience in relevant industry OR equivalent experience.

Security Clearance Requirements:

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required pre-offer and post-hire for this role.

Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.

Clearance Verification:

This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: 

This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.

Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law.

To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance.

Technology Consulting IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $77,900 - $156,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,800 - $169,200 per year.
