Description
OverviewThe Personnel Security Controller is responsible for strategic ownership, governance, and operational delivery of personnel security across the UK subsidiary. This includes ensuring compliance with UK Government security policy, contractual obligations, and organisational risk thresholds. This role provides authoritative oversight of vetting policy, sponsorship, application processing, and post-clearance aftercare, acting as the interface with UKSV, Warwickshire Police, HR, welfare providers, and senior stakeholders.
The post holder is part of a small team managing facility security and related security issues.
Beyond transactional processing, the role is fundamentally focused on translating complex regulatory and contractual security requirements into scalable, operationally workable solutions that allow the business to grow. A key priority is reducing friction for delivery teams without compromising compliance, ensuring cleared resources are deployed compliantly and on time. This work directly enables revenue realization and protects customer delivery commitments by preventing avoidable delays, rework, or compliance risk.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities – Personnel Security Governance & PolicyOwn and maintain the organisation’s Personnel Security Policy and procedures.Working closely with the FSC (Facility Security Clearance) Security Controllers to ensure Security compliance.Ensure compliance with UK Government standards, legislation, and contractual security requirements.Act as the subject matter expert on personnel security risk and governance.Support audits, inspections, and assurance activities by government or contracting authorities. Vetting Oversight & SponsorshipHold accountability for BPSS, SC, DV, and police vetting processes.Core responsibility for processing and overseeing in-house vetting operations.Act as organisational sponsor and primary contact with UKSV.Manage vetting processes with Warwickshire Police as the main vetting body for police service to support police projects.Provide risk-based advice on complex or sensitive cases. National Security Vetting AftercareLead the delivery of National Security Vetting aftercare for security cleared personnel.Manage changes in circumstances, foreign travel declarations, and adverse information.Liaise with HR, welfare, and line management to manage aftercare cases.Ensure appropriate documentation and escalation where required.Deliver briefings, guidance, and training on personnel security responsibilities. Operational Leadership & AssuranceProvide day to day oversight and guidance to two security administrator contractorsManaging the contractor recruitment process when necessaryMaintaining Microsoft’s CRM Database and ensuring accurate and compliant personnel security records.Monitor trends, risks, and workflow effectiveness.Maintain awareness of evolving security policy and threat landscape.Be a member of DISA and attend DISA events to share expertise and gain industry insights. Promote a strong and proportionate personnel security culture.

Required/minimum qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND solid demonstratable experience in program management, process management, or process improvement OR equivalent experience.Experience in personnel security control including process management and improvement or equivalent experience.
