Description
OverviewAs the Growth Channel Incubation & Product Strategy Director, you will identify, shape, and prove the next generation of growth capabilities across Microsoft product surfaces. You will work at the intersection of product strategy, engineering, marketing, customer experience, and business growth to determine where new product-led growth opportunities exist and what Microsoft must build to realize them.
This is a builder role, not a traditional campaign management role. You will develop growth hypotheses, translate customer and business opportunities into product and capability requirements, influence product roadmaps, and lead incubation from concept through evidence-based scale, iteration, or stop decisions. You will establish the initial strategy, partnerships, success measures, and operating model for new capabilities, then transition proven capabilities to the teams responsible for activation and scaled operations.
Responsibilities
• Define the next growth opportunities: Identify product surfaces, customer moments, ecosystem signals, and emerging capabilities that could become new growth channels. Develop a clear point of view on where Microsoft should invest and why.
• Create product-led growth strategy: Translate customer needs and growth opportunities into strategies, value propositions, product requirements, experience principles, and measurable growth hypotheses.
• Influence product and engineering roadmaps: Build trusted partnerships with senior product, engineering, design, data, and marketing leaders. Represent growth requirements early in product planning and influence what is built, how it is instrumented, and how it can be activated.
• Lead incubation from concept to proof: Design and lead pilots that test new channel mechanics, customer experiences, and product capabilities. Establish success criteria, learning agendas, dependencies, and decision points before work begins.
• Drive evidence-based investment decisions: Synthesize customer, performance, technical, and business evidence to recommend whether capabilities should scale, iterate, or stop. Communicate recommendations clearly to executive stakeholders.
• Build reusable capabilities, not one-off programs: Create repeatable frameworks, design patterns, playbooks, governance, and initial operating models that enable successful concepts to be used across products, audiences, and growth motions.
• Establish capability handoffs: Define readiness criteria and partner with growth activation and channel operations leaders to transition proven capabilities into scaled execution with clear ownership, documentation, and measurement.
• Shape the external and internal point of view: Develop a deep understanding of product-led growth practices inside and outside Microsoft. Apply relevant insights to Microsoft’s ecosystem and articulate a compelling vision for how growth capabilities should evolve.
• Lead through influence: Drive clarity and momentum across complex, cross-organizational initiatives without relying on direct authority. Anticipate barriers, align stakeholders, make tradeoffs visible, and accelerate decisions.
