Description

The Xbox Planning and Insights (XPI) team examines the Xbox business from a 360-degree point of view providing strategic business planning, data science, and reporting and analytics. Come join the Business Intelligence team as a Data Analyst, we are looking for a candidate that will have a unique balance of technical, analysis, project and program management skillsThe Data Analyst role is critical to the success of delivering the suite of reporting and insights to multiple disciplines across gaming including marketing, engineering, finance, sales, and business development teams managing content, subscriptions, and services available through Xbox. This role will partner closely with team peers to understand new report development, data validation, and be responsible for generating insights on all aspects of the business. You will be monitoring trends from sales, gamers/telemetry, forecasts and other gaming company strategies to make well informed recommendations. This role will be hands-on, working with big data environments, querying internal data sources and aiding in maintaining our reporting environment infrastructure, evaluating customer requests with ad-hoc analysis or pointing stakeholders to self-serve solutions.

Conducts analyses to respond to business questions, interprets analytical outputs, and provides responses in an appropriate format, and partners to build on others' analyses and frameworks
Create & maintain operational processes of existing and new reports and self-serve data analysis toolsets
Determine appropriate analytical tools and techniques to address business questions, execute analyses and interpret results with actionable recommendations, and partners to build on others' frameworks
Derive insights on a timely basis using a variety of datasets and have the ability to relate to recent market trends
Partner with onshore & offshore resources assisting with report development and operational processes
Detect and troubleshoot data issues while working on analysis and reports
Maintain report refreshes, deliver clean data files to external partners
Interface with business users and engineering teams for ongoing analysis needs with the ability to bridge the gap in terms of data needs and business term/logic understanding
Leverage industry best practices in establishing repeatable BI practices, principles & processes
Work directly with stakeholders to triage requests, fulfill and deliver analysis in a variety of forms including presenting material
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysisOR Masters Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related fieldOR equivalent experience2+ years experience in database (relational and columnar) development, programming frameworks - e.g. experience with technologies such as SQL (Server/SSIS/SSAS), C#, Azure Data Lake, Kusto, Redshift or similar2+ years in advanced Excel functions (e.g., creating formulas, pivot tables) and hands-on experience with Microsoft BI toolsets, in particular building PowerBIs visualizations and supporting data models1+ years experience analyzing data and delivering actionable insights or reports in timely mannerPreferred Qualifications:
3+ years working for a game publisher or in a gaming related field A passion for gaming and curiosity for the overall gaming and PC industryAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and to manage ambiguityData Analytics IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.
