Description

The Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization is seeking a Capacity Data Analyst for our Datacenter (DC) Supply Strategy team (DCSS). This role in the Capacity planning group supports our rapidly scaling global data center infrastructure supply, which supports the full spectrum of Microsoft products and services. This role sits at the nexus of multiple teams and is the catalyst for building the right DC supply, optimizing existing supply for the future balance of cost, technological shifts and available infrastructure.

This role will be responsible for analyzing new technology roadmaps including transitions in data center infrastructure design, hardware tech roadmap, server SKUs, exit strategy including decommissions and assessing the impact on demand and the future capacity plan. This is a unique role in that decisions about future data center planning are made at the inflection point of current DC supply, future designs coupled with the impact on cost and infrastructure lead-time-capacity. The right candidate will have analytical skills, ability to work well with ambiguity, collaboration and partnership skills underlined with a foundation in financial concepts.

  

The role also requires deep competency in supply strategy, total cost to serve (TCO), Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), statistical inventory management methods, advanced planning systems and methodologies, and IT infrastructure concepts.

Data Center Supply Strategy (DCSS) is looking for a candidate that is an organized self-starter who is grounded in supply chain management principles, values the benefits of collaboration, and has a proven record of driving initiatives from thought to implementation. You will work with a cross-functional team and be responsible for creating and maintaining data models for technological transitions, stranding and aging DC infra. They will be responsible for tracking the inventory of our fleet, deriving key insights to help leadership make decisions regarding our aging DC portfolio.

We are looking for a competent Data Analyst who can apply in-depth knowledge of the business, its data landscape, and the lineage of those data to proactively identify opportunities to explore and address business questions across multiple areas. Key responsibilities include:

Clean, analyze, and visualize a variety of Data Center telemetry data to identify opportunities, insights, and anomalies.    Develop automated dynamic reports and dashboards to support key business functions and initiatives.   Own Extract, Transform and Load (ETL), data validations, and documentation to support your and others’ analyses   Compile comprehensive and accurate client facing reports on a timely basis   Guide business leaders with confidence in your analytics and reporting to ensure smooth execution.   Summarize and clearly communicate data analysis assumptions and results.   Support day-to-day operations with ad-hoc analysis  Embody our Culture and Values

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysisOR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field

OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.  Preferred Qualifications:

Hands-on experience with SQL queries, Python, Tableau, Power BI. Data Architecture experienceWorking knowledge of SQL programming, including the ability to write complex queries and procedures to extract or transform data from various sources. Advanced skills in Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate complex financial models and perform data analysis using advanced functions, such as pivot tables, data validation, and macros. Working knowledge of Power BI, including the ability to design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to support analysis and decision-making.

Data Analytics IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.
