Description

Work with Google’s partners and both internal and external developers to drive adoption of product/API integrations across Android XR and Play ecosystem. Provide engineering direction and assistance to design, build and launch new feature integrations and developer products. Collaborate with the Android XR product and engineering teams to provide feedback on APIs/libraries, influence the product roadmap, and craft the most relevant narrative for how developers can maximize their return on investment when building for Android XR. Work with internal and external developers, generate developer insights, create guidance, write example code, author blog posts, design APIs, propose product changes, influence engineering plans, discover developer stories, and inspire developers. Capture compelling case studies of how development teams were able to maximize developer productivity to inspire other teams to follow similar best practices.

Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

In this role, you will collaborate with product and engineering teams to build better developer tools, ultimately enabling amazing user experiences on the platform.The Android XR DevRel team empowers developers to create immersive experiences that blend digital and physical space. We do this by nurturing partnerships, providing impactful consultancy, analyzing feedback, fostering a growing community, and creating inspiring content.

US: $138000 - $198000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

3 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.

3 years of experience in Android (e.g., Kotlin coding) or XR development (e.g., Unity, Godot, Unreal or native OpenXR).

Preferred qualifications: 3 years of experience as a technical practitioner in a developer community.

Experience creating guidance with prototype hardware and working directly with early developers.

Extended Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

3 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.

3 years of experience in Android (e.g., Kotlin coding) or XR development (e.g., Unity, Godot, Unreal or native OpenXR).
