Description

Serve as a technical lead for our mechanical infrastructure, collaborating with planning, operations, execution, and construction teams to develop new data center mechanical infrastructure systems. Investigate and lead next-generation mechanical systems to align with company long-term strategies, and lead the insertion of new technologies by collaborating with core engineering and operations teams during development. Create system-level concepts and schematic designs, carrying them through to detailed construction designs and operations. Provide and prepare documents including: statement of work, engineering analysis and reports, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAC), design documents, product specifications, drawings, budget, cost estimates, schedule, commissioning test plans, and perform engineering analysis using software tools. Collaborate with partner teams to optimize the existing fleet and future products to meet the market demands of Google’s ML fleet.

Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run the environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

Our passion for technology drives everything we do. As a Mechanical Engineer on the Data Center Technology Systems (DCTS), a multidisciplinary group of engineers and architects dedicated to designing next-generation data centers, you will play a key role in developing, analyzing, and optimizing the mechanical cooling infrastructure. You will use various analytical tools to reveal important data points in the design process for efficient mechanical systems. You will be a strong communicator, able to articulate complex ideas concisely across all digital mediums and provide recommendations to cross-functional engineers and architects to enhance our data centers' mechanical systems and accelerate construction.
