The Boeing Company is currently looking for a Software Certification Manager to lead our Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Software Engineering teams located in Everett, Washington. This role is crucial in ensuring that our aircraft not only meet the regulatory standards set by the FAA but also embody the highest levels of safety and reliability. We are seeking a dynamic Software Engineering Leader specializing in certification for supplier-developed software within Cabin, Electrical Subsystems, Interiors, Network Systems, and Propulsion domains. This leader will be instrumental in fostering and sustaining relationships throughout the production value stream, collaborating closely with peers in engineering, operations, and supply chain.  

The role encompasses project oversight, software development, implementation responsibilities, and a strong focus on quality assurance. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in software development, particularly in DO-178 certification for high-criticality systems, along with exceptional leadership capabilities. 

Position Responsibilities:

Oversee professional employees engaged in engineering and technical activities within Software specifically focusing on Cabin, Electrical Subsystems, Interiors, Network Systems, or Propulsion systems

Develop and execute comprehensive software project and implementation plans tailored to Cabin, Electrical Subsystems, Interiors, Network Systems, and Propulsion domain applications, ensuring adherence to compliance

Provide technical management and guidance to partners and stakeholders in the Cabin, Electrical Subsystems, Interiors, Network Systems, and Propulsion organizations

Lead and oversee technical strategies, ensuring effective development and support for Cabin, Electrical Subsystems, Interiors, Network Systems, and Propulsion software while maintaining high-quality benchmarks

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers (both internal and external), stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports within Cabin, Electrical Subsystems, Interiors, Network Systems, and Propulsion

Most importantly, inspire, develop, and motivate team members to achieve their full potential in the context of Cabin, Electrical Subsystems, Interiors, Network Systems, and Propulsion software development and certification

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

Bachelors Degree

This position requires, to meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

5+ years of experience working in aerospace, defense, or similar high-tech industry

2+ years of experience in developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and business partners

2+ years of experience in a leadership role leading global teams, initiatives, or projects to meet business objectives and influence change

Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

3+ years of experience in cross-functional leadership, collaborative problem solving, building lasting relationships & proficiency in written and verbal communication

3+ years of experience with DO-178C and supplements (DO-331, DO-332) and DO-330

3+ years of experience in leading or managing software engineering activities

Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

Experience in software development using Java, JavaScript, and Node.JS

Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies

2+ years of experience as technical manager of a product deployment team

Familiarity with the use of AI in software development practices

Familiar with Boeing processes and procedures
