Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity on the E-7 Mission System Program for a Surveillance & Self Protect Project Engineer in Tukwila, WA.

In this position you will work closely with the program managers, contracts, estimating, supply chain, engineering, suppliers and/or customers to execute the program. This is a growth role, with the expectation that broad skills and experience gained here would be applicable to a variety of other current and future

contracts. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers.

As a Mission Systems Surveillance & Self Protect Project Engineer, the Project Engineer will have the responsibility of providing Engineering leadership to multi-skilled teams developing innovative solutions to field the next generation

of AEW&C aircraft. The successful candidate will plan, organize, coordinate and manage the resources required through metrics and in JIRA over the life of the project in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity to provide technical, business, and integration leadership for the development and execution of the project and team plans.

Position Responsibilities:

Provides the Engineering leadership to teams representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers.

Resolve technical issues through coordination with engineering and the Chief Engineer.

Manage deliverables by defining plans for risk mitigation, issues, and opportunities; and monitoring baseline plans to assess project performance, productivity, and lessons

Brief customers and leadership on program status; risks, issues, and opportunities; and help needed.

Develops statement of work (SOW) and/or supplier statement of work (SSOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements.

Identifies and manages changes to SOW and/or SSOW and assesses the impact of those changes, and incorporates changes into statement of work.

Identifies performance metrics.

Implements corrective actions to improve performance.

Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of the project or team plan.

Plan, identify, prioritize, and coordinate resources required over the life of the program that requires coordination with multiple scrum teams, external resources, and customers

Track progress to cost, schedule, and technical performance using Boeing Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) and Earned Value Management (EVM).

Participate in PI planning

Define releases and program increments

Drive system demos & PI demo

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

5+ years of experience working across multiple engineering disciplines

Availability to travel up to 10% of your time.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

10+ or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

3+ Years of experience in an Agile Lead Role: Product Manager or Product Owner

Experience with System and Subsystem levels of Requirements generation

3+ Years of experience with Product Management: schedule and cost management

Familiarity with tools such as VersionOne and/or JIRA

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate/present to Boeing and customer teams and leaders.

Ability to collaborate with team members and develop execution plans for deliverables.

Experience with commercial airplane certification.

Experience collaborating and integrating various functional groups such as manufacturing, engineering and supplier management.

Experience with metric creating tools (e.g., Tableau)

FAA certification

Typical Education & Experience:

Senior (Level 4):Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 5):Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range (Senior - Level 4): $122,400 - $165,600. Summary pay range (Lead - Level 5): $150,450 - $203,550
