This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on various projects related to industrial building HVAC systems, steam generation and distribution, compressed air systems, plumbing, and fire protection systems, reliability, and building automation.
As a Facilities Mechanical Plant Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting project teams throughout the entire design and implementation process. This includes developing conceptual designs, establishing design criteria, creating final designs, estimating costs, and providing ongoing maintenance support for the mechanical aspects of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems, and grounds.

Our Ideal Candidate will have:
A solid understanding of engineering principles and practices related to industrial building systemsA background in facilities engineering, with a focus on mechanical systems such as HVAC, steam generation, compressed air, plumbing, and fire protectionExperience working with High pressure steam boilers and air compressorsExperience developing conceptual designs, estimate costs, and project management skills
Position Responsibilities:
Supports project teams to develop; conceptual designs, design criteria, final designs, cost estimates and provides maintenance support for the mechanical portions of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and groundsLeads and provides support in the translation of customer requirements to design options with documents and estimatesReviews mechanical designs to assess compliance with customer requirements, building codes and applicable lawsSupports the development of conceptual analysis to resolve cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)Collaborates with others in engineering, project management and maintenance to facilitate and implement improvements in asset efficiency, availability, and maintainabilityLeads team to ensure accuracy of drawing archives/libraries. Coordinates review of contractor redlinesProvides mentorship to identify errors and documents construction changes to align with regulatory requirements, facility standards, and record retention requirementsSupports teams that manage construction projects by providing input on vendor selection, reviews contractor proposalsLeads in the production or procurement of detailed design documents. Uses appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project parametersSupports in translation of customer requirements into conceptual design and scope by analyzing intended use/occupancy and desired aesthetics, conducting code research, developing preliminary design elements, determining interdisciplinary engineering support requirements, estimating resource costs/requirementsDevelops and updates design standards and site-specific operating procedures in order to establish common practicesParticipates in technical committees
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Domestic travel is required as business needs demand.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelorās degree or greater in Mechanical Engineering3+ years of experience reading & understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications3+ years of experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD package3+ years of experience repairing and maintaining high pressure steam boilers and air compressor3+ years of experience supporting industrial facility building systems to include the following: HVAC, Ventilation, Vacuum Systems, Compressed Air, Chilled Water, and/or Water/Sewer Systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5 or more years ārelated work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience5+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role5+ years of experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or other similar rigorous problem/analysis/resolution, processes to engineering development and manufacturing/production efforts5+ years of experience assisting with reliability processes in engineering5+ years of experience with applicable codes e.g. IBC, IMC, UPC, WSEC, and ASMEExperience with fire protection rules, regulations, and code requirementsExperience or proficiency in sustainable design, construction, and operation ā e.g. USGBC LEED certificates or similar programsUnderstanding of sustainability regulations and guidance ā e.g. Washington State Climate Commitment Act, Carbon neutrality by 2050Professional Engineering (PE) License

Mid-Level:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
