Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is hiring a Senior Accountant – Financial Policy to join the Northwest Accounting Policy team in Renton, WA.
As the Senior Accountant you will:
Interact regularly with key finance and accounting personnel at Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA), management in other functional areas (primarily contracts, revenue management and revenue accounting), and the Company's external auditors.Participate in a team of technical accounting professionals who perform accounting research, develop accounting policies, and provide accounting determination on issues and contracts in a complex environmentResearch and interpret generally accepted accounting principles to ensure proper reporting of external financial statements
Specific areas of expertise assigned to this position include:
Serving as primary liaison to the Boeing Commercial Airplane finance teams related to revenue, backlog, and program accountingPerforming evaluations of complex transactions involving topics such as revenue recognition and cost classification (inventory, research & development, note receivables, etc.), Performing BCA related corporate development activitiesReviewing BCA estimates at completion
Position Responsibilities:
Serves as a subject matter expert on various technical accounting mattersLeads the analysis and interpretation of highly complex contracts, policies and regulatory requirements, primarily related to airplane sales and financing and other services contractsResearches and provides expert guidance on new and existing accounting issues including the writing whitepapers on accounting issuesEnsures continued compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act and assists in the analysis and mitigation of compliance risk/errors of a complex natureParticipates in special projects and other technical accounting-related special projects as they arise
This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's Degree or higher3+ years of accounting experience3+ years of experience researching and applying US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) to solve complex accounting issues
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a related fieldWork experience in industry with a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC registrant and/or public accounting firmCertified Public Accountant (CPA)Experience with Big 4 accountingExperience with Estimates of Completion (EACs)
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years' related work experience, 14 years' related work experience, etc.).
