Description
The Amazon Photos UX Research team seeks a passionate, innovative, and highly motivated Senior UX Researcher to join our team. Amazon Photos, is revolutionizing how customers interact with and manage their photo collections through natural language interactions and AI driven organization and memory curation. We are searching for a Senior UX Researcher to generate insights into customer needs that inform design decisions and evaluate feature usability, particularly focusing on the integration of Photos features with Alexa+ endpoints.As a Senior UX Researcher, you will conduct agile research that keeps pace with rapid innovation while maintaining a strategic view of our customer needs. You'll be joining a collaborative research team that's part of the broader design and product organization, working to shape the future of photo experiences for Amazon Prime and Alexa+ customers.
You should have broad skills in user research and design research methods, with a thorough understanding of qualitative and quantitative research concepts. The role requires excellent multitasking abilities and skill in managing competing priorities while maintaining high-quality research standards. Most importantly, you'll need to excel at translating uncertainty and ambiguity into actionable recommendations in a fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead research activities from study design to recruiting, moderation, analysis, and reporting
• Conduct various research methodologies including lab-based user testing, remote testing, prototype testing, concept testing, field research, and survey design
• Partner with Photos product management, user experience design, engineering, and other Devices and services teams to drive customer-centric decisions
• Evaluate natural language interactions and voice-enabled features for Photos experiences
• Manage ambiguity and work autonomously in an agile environment
• Contribute to the strategic research vision for Amazon Photos
A day in the life
You will design and implement research strategies that inform the development of innovative Photos features for Alexa+ customers. Your research will balance quick, iterative studies with broader strategic investigations. You'll collaborate daily with product managers, designers, and engineers to understand research needs and deliver insights that drive product decisions. Your work will directly impact the evolution of how customers interact with their photos through natural language and voice interfaces. Our team moves fast and iterates continually. You will interact daily with product managers, designers, engineers and your research peers to understand and guide the team’s research needs, including designing and conducting research activities. The goal being to drive impact, as measured by changes to the fast-paced product design and development roadmap.
About the team
The Amazon Photos Product, Design and Research team is a collaborative group of mission driven builders obsessed with building the most customer-centric Photos solution for preserving, organizing ,reliving and sharing memories. The User research team is embedded within the product and design team for day to day collaboration.
Qualifications
• 6+ years proven success leading User Research projects with demonstrated impact• Bachelor's degree in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field
• A strong research portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables
• Experience conducting both strategic and tactical research studies
• Proven track record of influencing product decisions through research insights
Extended Qualifications
• MS in Human Factors, HCDE, or Cognitive Psychology• Experience with AI/ML and LLM-based technologies research
• Experience researching voice-enabled user experiences
• Strong quantitative data analysis and statistical skills
• Exceptional ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
• Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
• Experience conducting global research studies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
