Description

The Amazon Devices UX & Insights team is seeking a thoughtful, creative, and passionate User Researcher. This individual will execute research to better understand how Amazon Device customers want to discover, learn about, purchase, and utilize their devices and services. We’re looking for a UX Research subject matter expert who thinks strategically and is a great research tactician, meaning you know how to design primary research to uncover customer needs, and can translate them into actionable ideas that can inform new shopping features and solutions. Our product, marketing, and engineering partners are eager to hear the insights our team produces, as we directly influence the design of new programs and features that impact the customer experience.

You are a passionate researcher with a deep understanding of traditional user research methods and best practices, and you actively invest in learning emerging techniques. You successfully balance using nimble, creative, and pragmatic approaches to designing and executing UX research. You have uncanny observational and analytical skills, an impressive ability to collaborate with a variety of partners and peers across disciplines (e.g., engineers, marketers, designers, other researchers), and a relentless determination to do what is right for Amazon's customers. You can work with minimal direction and are capable of moving quickly while delivering high-quality outputs.

Key job responsibilities

• Partner with UX Design, research, and product teams to identify research opportunities and prioritize research questions based on current knowledge, project goals, and risks.

• Own all aspects of the user research lifecycle (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, communicating and tracking adoption of research), including owning decisions on which user research methodology approaches work, and which don’t.

• Communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.

• Work closely with UX Designers to design and drive effective user research.

• Utilize best practices to create long-term research roadmaps and opportunity frameworks that align to and inform business strategy and goals.

• Apply front-end user research skills to deliver on actionable user insights for partner teams.

• Drive impact to the business and customer experience, as measured by changes to the design and development roadmap.

A day in the life

Our teams move fast and iterate continually, and you will be moving quickly with them – but you will also have time to zoom out and ask the big questions that change the course of these programs or inspire us to build entirely new ones. You will partner closely with UX Designers, other researchers, among others to guide the design and prototyping of new features or programs to test with users ahead of the development schedule. You will also interact regularly with product managers, engineers, and marketing specialists to understand and guide the team’s research needs, including designing and conducting research activities.
