We are seeking an experienced Principal Technical Program Manager to lead data science and software within the DC power utilization management organization. The team owns driving high utilization in AWS data centers while maintaining high availability to achieve the dual mandate of capex efficiency and customer SLA. The ideal candidate will drive the technical vision and execution of complex, cross-functional projects that leverage data science, machine learning and DC infrastructure knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the technical strategy and roadmap for the AWS Infrastructure Science team

- Build and manage the roadmap for the data science and supporting software team

- Collaborate with DC Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, HW Engineering, leadership to identify opportunities and projects where data science can add value

- Drive cross-team alignment and execution across data scientists, software engineering and DC engineering

- Manage complex dependencies and risks across multiple workstreams including data science model development, experimentation, and product launches

- Manage leadership communication for project updates, program health

- Develop and track program-level metrics, providing regular updates to leadership on progress, risks, and opportunities

- Lead strategic planning for resources, budget, and timelines to ensure successful delivery of program objectives

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who can translate high-level business objectives into actionable technical plans. They should be comfortable operating in ambiguity, adept at breaking down complex problems, and able to drive alignment across diverse stakeholders. Strong leadership skills are essential to motivate teams and navigate organizational challenges.

Key job responsibilities

- Develop and maintain comprehensive program roadmaps for data science initiatives

- Drive technical strategy alignment across multiple teams and departments

- Oversee end-to-end project lifecycle, from data collection to production deployment

- Manage dependencies between data science, engineering, and product teams

- Coordinate model validation, testing, and deployment processes

- Present program status and results to executive leadership

- Drive continuous improvement in data science workflows

- Develop scalable processes for model governance and compliance

Cut through ambiguity, apply mechanisms, deliver new data science models and enhancements to existing ones. Engage deeply with science, software and hardware engineering, supply chain teams to solve complex and high value problem statements that provide durable competitive advantage to AWS's cost structure. Present ideas, progress updates to the senior most levels of leadership at Amazon.

About the team

The AWS Infrastructure team consists of data scientists, applied scientists, software development engineers, business intelligence engineers and program managers. The team owns high visibility and impact models that inform critical infrastructure decisions that drive data center electrical distribution systems utilization and computing rack placement decisions. The team has grown in size, scope and impact over the last couple of years and is looking for a strong TPM to drive it's signature initiatives for 2026 and beyond.

Qualifications

- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

- 5+ years of software development experience

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

- Bachelor's degree

- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
