Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Kuiper Enterprise Technology builds the software, services, and infrastructure that enable our program to design and engineer the future of LEO Satellite based broadband services. Our team succeeds when the entire Project Kuiper organization can scale as needed to be successful.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager on this team you will build models to enable Kuiper enterprise technology to enhance the support of the rapidly expanding production infrastructure across multiple locations. You will lead the technical planning, coordination, and implementation of multiple programs across the organization. You will manage the intake, lifecycle, and support-ability of Kuiper’s onsite and remote production infrastructure. You will work alongside other Program Managers, Product Managers, Engineers, and key stakeholders to drive key business initiatives that directly impact Kuiper production. You will collaborate with teams across Amazon on the planning and execution of complex and highly-technical projects with high impact and visibility.

Key job responsibilities

- Manage complex technical operation initiatives across Kuiper and Contract manufacturing facilities.

- Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize business and operations requirements for onsite and remote production infrastructure.

- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals.

- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets.

- Manage escalations or mis-alignments when there are risks to delivering committed services with high quality; manage tradeoff decisions with key stakeholders.

- Work with stakeholder teams to determine the appropriate escalation, review process, and resolution for delivery blockers.

- Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.

- Make timely, data-driven decisions to prioritize and solve problems

- Build effective relationships up, down, and across organizations

- Communicate complex concepts clearly, orally and in written form to influence different audiences and levels within and across organizations

- Work with technical stakeholders to transition their products and services to operations

- As the owner of programs involving critical infrastructure, you will respond to High Severity events with urgency to mitigate business impact.

About the team

To enable production, the Kuiper Builder Enablement and Engagement organization provides infrastructure, IT and builder support to all Kuiper engineering and service teams. As individual teams we provide subject matter expertise that enables Kuiper Engineers to design and build best in class, from LRU rack design and provisioning to PCBA release, we traverse the full suite of services. As an organization, we are the schema connecting Kuiper Engineering teams to production.

Qualifications

- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating go-live schedules

- Experience building and evaluating the operational Supportability of critical infrastructure

- Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, and systems engineering

- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition



Extended Qualifications

- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with Data Center or manufacturing operations teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
