Description

Join Amazon Legal Operations and Outside Counsel Management (OCM) as a strategic Finance and Budgeting Program Manager driving financial excellence across our external legal spend portfolio. You'll own the complete lifecycle of legal budget management—from annual planning through quarterly forecasting and performance monitoring—while serving as the financial architect for OCM's technology-enabled transformation strategy. This role uniquely combines deep financial expertise with technical program management capabilities, partnering with engineering teams to build AI-enabled, automated workflows that transform manual financial processes into intelligent, self-service systems.

Key job responsibilities

- Own the annual budget planning process for Amazon's external legal spend, partnering with Finance and legal leadership to develop comprehensive forecasts and financial models supporting strategic decisions about retainer structures, fixed-fee arrangements, and budget allocation

- Manage the complete budget lifecycle from annual allocation through quarterly reviews, ensuring legal teams have real-time visibility into their financial position while coordinating budget moves and reallocations across practice areas

- Drive AI and automation initiatives that transform manual financial workflows into intelligent, scalable systems—including automated data reconciliation, anomaly detection, and predictive forecasting

- Partner with technology and engineering teams to design and implement automated solutions that reduce manual effort and increase accuracy, building self-service dashboards and AI-enabled tools

- Serve as the primary financial partner to legal teams, providing guidance on budget planning, spend optimization, and financial decision-making while collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, Legal Tech, Procurement, and business stakeholders

A day in the life

You'll start your day reviewing quarterly forecast variances and preparing executive insights for MBRs and QBRs. Mid-morning, you'll partner with engineering teams on AI-enabled dashboard development, then meet with legal practice leaders to evaluate budget reallocation requests against strategic priorities. Afternoons might include designing automated reconciliation workflows, analyzing spend performance trends, or advising legal teams on alternative fee arrangements. You'll maintain data integrity across multiple financial systems as the single source of truth for external legal spend data.
