Description

Join AWS as a Sr. Technical Program Manager and scale the design system that powers customer experiences across AWS digital properties. In this role, you'll connect product, engineering, design, and partner teams across the organization, driving alignment to deliver experiences that millions of AWS customers use daily.

Design systems sit at the intersection of design, engineering, and product, which means navigating multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and complex dependencies. You'll bring it all together by working closely with engineers to drive features to completion, building the processes and mechanisms that enable the team to scale, and communicating the impact of what we're building to the broader organization.

We're seeking someone who influences without authority and navigates complex organizational dynamics. You'll align stakeholders across multiple teams, manage dependencies that span organizations, and build consensus among groups with different priorities.

Key job responsibilities

- Partner with engineering to drive features to completion, removing blockers and ensuring timely delivery

- Dive deep into technical implementations to understand constraints and drive clarity with engineering and product teams

- Establish scalable mechanisms and processes that enable the team to operate efficiently as it grows

- Own communications about the team's work, from release notes to leadership updates to organizational announcements

- Drive cross-functional alignment and facilitate decision-making among stakeholders with competing priorities

- Serve as the primary coordinator between design system consumers and contributors, building relationships that drive adoption

- Lead cross-organizational initiatives, managing dependencies and driving consensus across team boundaries

- Identify and mitigate risks through proactive stakeholder engagement and transparent communication

A day in the life

Your primary focus is keeping the design system moving forward and making sure the right people know about it. Most days start with engineering, whether that's a standup, working through a blocker, or reviewing a technical approach. From there, you're often in cross-team conversations, aligning stakeholders on priorities or brokering decisions when teams disagree. You'll spend time writing too, from release notes to leadership updates to Slack messages that keep partners informed. Some days you'll go beyond the usual and find yourself presenting to senior leadership, onboarding a new partner team, evangelizing the design system to a new area of the organization, or troubleshooting an urgent issue that just came up. The work varies, but you're always connecting people, driving clarity, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

About the team

We build and maintain the design systems and platforms that power AWS Marketing's digital presence, serving millions of customers worldwide. We also support key events and experiences across the organization. The team is composed of front-end engineers, QA engineers, and design technologists, and we work closely with product and design partners in the same organization. We're constantly learning and experimenting with new technologies to bring the latest and greatest to customers. We value speed, autonomy, delivery, and delightful customer experiences.
