Description

As a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM), Region Flexibility, you will work to enable Amazon businesses to leverage new AWS regions and improve the efficiency and scale of our business. The end-state architecture will enable services to break region coupling while retaining the ability to keep critical business functions within a region. This architecture will improve customer latency through local affinity to compute resources and reduce the blast radius in case of region failures.

We are looking for a passionate, deeply technical, and results-oriented Technical Program Manager (TPM) to define and drive Region Flexibility initiatives, and drive fundamental architectural changes across the whole Amazon software stack.

You will have a proven track record of planning and delivering complex programs with multi-year roadmap, using Agile and incremental delivery methods. You will have experience driving architectural change across thousands of teams and handled communication from technical developers to senior VPs.

Key job responsibilities

* Partner with Project Sponsors and development teams to deliver complex cross-functional projects

* Create and execute detailed roadmaps, defining user stories and researching technical solutions

* Provide clear communication to management and stakeholders on project status and plans

* Guide software development teams on architecture, design, and priorities

* Build relationships across Amazon to leverage existing technologies and promote team initiatives

* Manage risk assessment, escalations, and trade-offs between business needs and constraints

* Maintain effective project documentation and stakeholder communications

About the team

The Regional Flexibility Engineering (RFE) organization supports the rapid global expansion of Amazon's infrastructure. Our projects support Amazon businesses like Stores, Alexa, Kindle, and Prime Video. We work closely with AWS teams to improve AWS public offerings. Our organization focuses on robust and scalable solutions, simple to use, and delivered with engineering best practices. We leverage and build foundational infrastructure capabilities, tools, and datasets that enable Amazon teams to delight our customers. With millions of people using Amazon’s products every day, we appreciate the importance of making our solutions “just work”.



Qualifications

- 10+ years of technical product or program management experience

- 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

- 5+ years of software development experience

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules



Extended Qualifications

- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
