Description

Amazon OneMHS Hardware is seeking a highly motivated Technical Program Manager to help define, deliver, and scale the next generation of material handling equipment (MHE). You will play a pivotal role driving cross-functional programs across mechanical, electrical, and controls teams—both within Amazon and with external OEM partners.

As a TPM, you will own program execution from concept through launch, ensuring alignment between engineering, product management, and operations. You will help shape Amazon’s R&D pipeline, establish scalable mechanisms, and deliver innovative solutions that transform how we design, build, and deploy automation systems across Amazon’s global network.

Key job responsibilities

- Drive complex technical programs across hardware and software teams, ensuring milestones, budgets, and deliverables are met.

- Coordinate with engineers, product managers, procurement, and operations to align program goals with business priorities.

- Translate business needs into technical requirements; ensure documentation, testing, and validation align with standards.

- Partner with third-party OEMs to assess capabilities, negotiate alignment, and manage joint development programs.

- Establish mechanisms to track progress, identify risks, and escalate or resolve issues quickly.

- Support R&D initiatives that challenge traditional conveyance, sortation, and robotics solutions.

- Build consensus across stakeholders; deliver crisp narratives and updates to senior leadership.

- Share program management best practices, foster a culture of ownership, safety, and continuous improvement.

- Manage risk through proactive identification and mitigation strategies.

- Stay current with emerging technologies in automation, robotics, and industrial equipment.

About the team

Amazon installs a significant quantity of new buildings every year. The historical model has been to allow each integrator to use their own equipment, controls, subsystems, and methodologies. While that has allowed Amazon to be successful to this point, the variability between buildings has proven difficult to support and scale. One MHS’ charge is to build partnerships to focus on consistency and scalability across our network of the future. We will be partnering with key suppliers to help them scale up their manufacturing capabilities to keep up with our needs, as well as refining their designs to drive innovation and operational uptime and better meet the specific needs of Amazon’s operational environment.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent engineering science

- 5+ years of program management, project management or product management experience

- Experience leading cross-functional teams to establish strong partnerships with demonstrable results

- Experience conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences

- Experience completing complex tasks quickly with little to no guidance and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, or experience managing multiple calendars

- Experience with agile or other program management methodologies

- Experience in technical support, or experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities

- - Experience working with OEM vendors and external partners.

Extended Qualifications

- Master's degree in engineering, commerce, business administration or equivalent

- Experience designing or implementing integrated automation solutions such as material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines

- Experience supporting a wide range of different conveyors and sortation systems

- Knowledge of consumer product compliance processes and regulations

- - Prior demonstrated program management experience with material handling equipment
