Description

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale cloud computing easier and more cost effective for developers. The EC2 Customer Capacity Experience (CCX) organization's mission is to ensure the right capacity is available for customers through forecasting, planning, guidance and execution, especially for large unpredictable scaling events.

The EC2 CCX Customer Planning Team is searching for a customer focused, driven, and talented technical program manager to help plan compute capacity and deliver on customer commitments for internal and external customers. This responsibility will include ownership of the entire capacity planning process from understanding a customer's future compute requirements, determining high-confidence fulfillment plans, levying commitments directly to customers on behalf of AWS, and tracking hardware delivery into customer accounts. Additional responsibilities include driving technical requirements and collaborating with engineering organizations to develop new technologies that automate demand planning for our customers.

From Day 1 in CCX, Technical Program Managers are given the autonomy to think strategically and make data driven decisions, along with the ability to improve to the customer experience and the business. This role requires working with professionals in different domains including Sales, Account Management, Finance, Engineering, Forecasting, Product Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Data Center Planning. You will engage directly with external AWS customers and senior leaders across AWS and Amazon Retail.

- You are comfortable juggling competing priorities and navigating ambiguity autonomously.

- You thrive in an agile and fast-paced environment on projects and initiatives with senior leadership visibility.

- You can define program requirements, effectively communicate strategic initiatives to business leaders, and are able to work collaboratively across business, engineering, operations, and product teams to deliver solutions to customers.

- You are data driven. You are passionate about finding root causes and trends independently. You use data to support your ideas, drive actionable outcomes, and identify opportunities for partnerships across Amazon.

- You are comfortable analyzing large data sets to to tell a story. You use data to inform decisions and can drive solutions to business problems based on data-driven conclusions.

- You proactively identify risk and employ mitigations to get plans back on-track or work with customers to reset expectations.

- You invent new ways to measure the health of the business and insist on the highest standards when holding others accountable to deliver results for customers.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. Qualifications

- 3+ years of relevant work experience in program/project management, inventory management, business operations, and/or in a leading role

- BS Degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance



Extended Qualifications

- Advanced Degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance

- Prior experience with SQL, Tableau and other BI and analytics technologies

- Exceptional interpersonal skill

- Ability to communicate in writing clearly, succinctly, and in a data-driven fashion

- Excellent problem-solving skills, using data to define problems and drive rapid resolution

- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects - work prioritization, planning and task delegation

- Ability to balance the strategic with the operational.

- Ability to effectively work with a variety of organizations, management levels, cultures, and personalities

- Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple teams

- Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results

- Innovative and self-directed

The base pay for this position ranges from $147,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $254,500/year in our highest geographic market.
