SIERRA (Science, Insights, Experience, Research, Reporting & Analytics) has an opportunity for an innovative and highly motivated Senior Technical Program Manager to join our growing organization. We are building new software products and large scale distributed systems which all managers and leaders at Amazon will use as a part of their day to day work. We are empowered to think big at Amazon, and the SIERRA Team is doing just that.Qualified candidates have extensive experience defining projects and programs, collecting requirements, leading the development of detailed functional and test specifications, coordinating efforts to scope, schedule, and deploy new features sets; as well as analyzing cost/benefit of feature selection and communicating results throughout the organization. Finally, qualified candidates must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or multiple competing priorities.
Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager who can help lead two critical mechanisms for driving operational excellence within the broader ALX organization. These mechanisms are highly visible and are an opportunity to have broad influence. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the program to migrate all of the organizations products that support all managers at Amazon to a new platform. This migration is the key enabler to our organizations 3-year plan.
Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivering large scale solutions across teams. You will contribute to improving operations for every engineering team with in our organization and will use your knowledge and the collective knowledge of the org to develop best practices, and help shape how our engineering teams use AI to improve productivity and quality.
A day in the life
As a Senior Technical Program Manager you will rely on your ability to build bridges across all of the engineering teams within the org. You will lead meetings that reach every engineer within the team and are attended by Directors and VPs. You are a force multiplier who hlds a high bar and works with and through others to ensure we continually raise the bar for operational excellence and developer productivity.
About the team
This role is within the SIERRA (Science, Insights, Experience, Research, Reporting & Analytics) team. SIERRA is an organization within ALX that is a horizontal, multi-disciplinary organization whose mission is to be a force multiplier for the broader ALX organization and our key customer cohorts. We accomplish this by using our expertise in data analytics and science, economics, machine learning (ML), UX, I/O psychology, and engineering to build insights and experiences that raise the bar in understanding and shaping decision making at scale by integrating within and across talent journeys as well as through self-service tools and closed loop mechanisms outside of those journeys. Our portfolio of products spans foundational data sources, metrics, and research through to finished features and products that our end-customers interact with on a daily basis.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 3+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
Extended Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
