The Global Services, Security (GSS) team, a part of Amazon Web Services, leverages the expertise and ingenuity of our builders to establish scalable security solutions for both internal and external customers that drive business outcomes. Our goal of securing the world’s workloads and building a brighter future for humanity requires us to focus on reliable delivery of bar raising security outcomes and investment in security mechanisms and automation on behalf of our customers.

At Amazon Web Services (AWS), Security is our highest priority. The Security Escalations team in GSS is responsible for the security of services offered by Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS). We are looking for a passionate, innovative, results oriented technical program manager. Security Escalations is responsible for driving innovative enhancements that raise the bar for how AWS employees interact with resources, systems, and data. You are someone who loves managing programs and is committed to formulating and implementing wide-ranging process improvements. You are passionate about the security of the cloud and you want to solve real business problems. We have a team culture that encourages innovation and we expect team members and management alike to take a high degree of ownership for their program vision and execution of ideas. You possess strong verbal and written communication skills, can operate independently, and have a consistent track record of delivery. You have an understanding of technical concepts, and possess a broad understanding of AWS services. You are organized, detail-oriented, and drive towards improved performance while advocating for customer needs.

Key job responsibilities

• Collaborate across teams to drive, manage and track long-term projects. Own communication and status reporting.

• Develop written executive-level reporting on project status and outcomes

• Chair a weekly security meeting with members of senior leadership, including preparing the agenda, presenting discussion topics and documents, and capturing follow up items / actions.

• Identifying functional and technical requirements by collecting inputs from business, security, and technical teams.

• Aptitude for technology, able to learn new tools quickly

• Able to synthesize data and analytics to formulate sound program objectives and goals

• Address bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs and balance the business needs versus technical constraints

• Partner with multiple teams across multiple locations with varying sets of priorities to ensure a timely delivery of the secure solution

• Clarify and drive project commitments as well as establish and maintain clear chains of accountability

• Lead internal process improvement projects, including the development and implementation of internal tools

• Drive Security metrics delivery and improvements

Qualifications

- 3+ years of technical product or program management experience

- Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management

- 3+ years of experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience

- 2+ years of experience working with stakeholders across many functions



Extended Qualifications

- Experience driving security programs across large diverse organizations

- Experience and success at leading cross functional programs and proven ability to influence and lead without direct management authority

- Experience chairing meetings with senior stakeholders

- Innovative security approaches in non-traditional IT environments

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively across a multitude of platforms with remote team members, global teams, and stakeholders at multiple levels within the organization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
