Description

Amazon Photos is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Release Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead and optimize release train management across iOS, Android, Web, and Amazon devices such as Fire TV and Echo Show. In this role, you will be responsible for managing complex, multi-surface release trains, ensuring that all teams are aligned, schedules are met, and high-quality releases are delivered on time. This includes synchronizing and managing dependencies across multiple surfaces and teams to ensure that features are released in a coordinated and efficient manner.

As the TPM for release train management, you will work closely with engineering, QA, product, marketing, and UX teams to create a structured, repeatable release process. You will be the central point of communication for all release activities, tracking progress, identifying bottlenecks, and driving resolution. Your role will also involve managing the cadence of release cycles, ensuring consistency, and continuously improving the release process.

Key job responsibilities

- Own and manage the release train across iOS, Android, web, Fire TV, and Echo Show surfaces, ensuring that all releases are synchronized and delivered on schedule.

- Establish and maintain a release cadence, creating a structured, repeatable release process that aligns with Agile development practices.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, marketing, UX, and QA teams to make sure we are architecting, planning, and on track to deliver high quality customer experiences and high quality releases, making scalable long-term technical decisions while meeting our commitments.

- Coordinate dependencies across backend services and client applications, ensuring smooth and integrated releases across all surfaces.

- Lead release train ceremonies, including planning, status reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline the release process.

- Proactively identify and mitigate risks or bottlenecks that may impact the release timeline or quality.

- Track and communicate release status, ensuring that leadership and stakeholders are informed of progress, risks, and decisions.

- Continuously improve release processes, introducing new mechanisms or tools to optimize quality, speed, and efficiency.

- Ensure post-release retrospectives are conducted to identify areas of improvement and drive implementation of action items to elevate future releases.

The service comes with unlimited photo storage for Prime members and apps are available on iOS, Android, Web, Desktop, Fire Tablet & Fire TV. The service is also integrated into Alexa devices such as Echo Show. Qualifications

- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

- Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design

- Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps



Extended Qualifications

- Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering

- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

- Experience designing and developing robust and scalable software and services

- Strong understanding of Agile release train management processes and methodologies

- Strong knowledge of release management tools and frameworks to plan, track, and coordinate releases

- Proven track record in managing complex, multi-surface release cycles across mobile (iOS, Android), web, and Amazon devices (Fire TV, Echo Show)

- Strong technical deep dive to unblock technical hurdles for effective releases

- Skilled at managing risks, dependencies, and escalations in a high-paced, dynamic environment

- Strong communication and leadership skills to drive alignment across teams and ensure smooth coordination of release trains

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
