Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of more than 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit. Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Export Control Requirement:

If you want to tackle complex multi-dimensional problems in countries where Amazon has little to no presence and deliver a solution autonomously, then continue reading.

The Ground Infra Service team defines and manage the delivery of Leo ground infrastructure globally. We facilitate the collaboration and communication across the owners to build ground capacity through Ground Gateway Terminals (GGT) and the necessary infrastructures for when the business needs them. For the service launch and planned service expansions this translates to 450+ sites across 60+ countries needed by 2030. We work backward from the need by date dictated by service launch/expansion to develop unique project plans. We work with teams across a dozen orgs including Legal, Regulations, BizOps, Finance, Network engineering, Ground systems, Entities, Global trade, Operations, Supply chain, Government services, IT and Digital services, Licensing, and Security.

Not only we deliver these sites but we also own their financial health and ensure we stay on budget and support country level P&Ls profitability.

This role handles high-priority, ambiguous initiatives that don’t neatly fit into existing team ownership. You will be expected to define problems, drive cross-functional alignment, and execute with limited structure.

Key job responsibilities

- Lead infrastructure strategy and delivery for a geographic region

- Own and define ambiguous problem spaces related to global ground infrastructure delivery, establishing clarity where none exists today

- Develop and drive multi-year strategy and roadmap for next-generation ground infrastructure deployment globally

- Independently lead large-scale, cross-functional initiatives related to new ground infrastructure types, influencing stakeholders across Legal, Regulatory, Finance, Engineering, Operations, and external partners

- Design and implement scalable mechanisms and tooling to optimize infrastructure delivery, including capacity planning, financial modeling, latency considerations, and predictive analytics

- Identify systemic inefficiencies and lead organization-wide improvements that reduce cost, accelerate timelines, and improve decision quality across regions

A day in the life

- Work cross functionality with business teams, finance, operations, and software/network teams

- Strategize with regional teams on gateways delivery

- Break up roadblocks for your teammates

- Track finances and improve cost efficiency yoy

- Continuously identify tactical and strategic improvement opportunities in our space and drive them to resolution to scale effectively

- Communicate the progress and challenges within the working team and during VP level MBRs

- Thrive in ambiguity by seeing around corners and pointing out blind spots.

- Travel to regions as needed, up to 25% of the time

About the team

We are the glue that brings all components of Leo ground infrastructure together. We harmonize discord through constructive dialogue and focus on consistent delivery through standard processes. We operate with autonomy and prioritize life balance to ensure we always operate at our highest level.

We acknowledge the ambiguity of our space and welcome taking calculated risks. We always succeed or learn how to succeed.

Qualifications

- 10+ years of technical product or program management experience

- Demonstrated experience owning and delivering large-scale, ambiguous programs with significant business impact

- Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups without direct authority

- Experience defining strategy and building mechanisms in undefined or evolving problem spaces

- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and executive-level narratives

Extended Qualifications

- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

- Experience delivering global infrastructure, network, or capital-intensive programs

- Background working closely with engineering teams on complex systems (software and/or hardware)

- Experience building and scaling programs involving external vendors and cross-regional stakeholders

- Strong financial acumen, including experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiency initiatives

- Advanced degree in Engineering, Systems Design, or a related technical field
