Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain—and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (TIPM) to own the strategy and execution of global rack manufacturing programs that directly enable AWS’s capacity delivery to customers. In this role, you will be the single-threaded owner for manufacturing execution—accountable for end-to-end delivery of rack capacity from build plan creation through production shipment across AWS’s global contract manufacturing network of 15+ sites. You will define the multi-year manufacturing operations roadmap, turning ambiguous supply chain challenges into scalable, repeatable systems that deliver infrastructure at unprecedented scale.

As the Senior TIPM, you will drive end-to-end visibility from build plan creation through production execution, owning the full material lifecycle from port of import through final rack delivery. You will navigate highly ambiguous, constraint-driven environments where material availability, vendor capacity, and customer demand signals shift weekly—making high-judgment decisions that balance cost, speed, and delivery reliability across competing priorities. This role requires exceptional program management skills, deep technical understanding of manufacturing operations and hardware BOMs, and the ability to influence technical and business decisions across AWS Infrastructure, hardware engineering, procurement, and contract manufacturing partners—driving alignment on programs that directly impact AWS’s ability to deliver customer capacity commitments globally.

Key job responsibilities

Build Plan Execution & Production Readiness

• Own the end-to-end build plan execution lifecycle from weekly plan creation through rack delivery, managing programs across 15+ manufacturing sites globally

• Drive Clear to Build (CTB) readiness by coordinating material availability, vendor capacity, and production scheduling to ensure Full Kit readiness targets are met

• Establish and maintain mechanisms to track PO commitments against CTB status, proactively identifying gaps and driving resolution before they impact delivery SLAs

• Lead weekly build plan reviews with cross-functional stakeholders, presenting data-driven recommendations on production priorities, site allocation, and risk mitigation

• Manage complex trade-off decisions between sites, rack types, and delivery timelines when material constraints require plan adjustments

• Own the operating cadence for manufacturing execution including daily stand-ups, weekly business reviews, and monthly strategic planning cycles

Material Lifecycle & Inventory Strategy

• Own the full material lifecycle from port of import through warehousing, kitting, and final rack delivery to AWS data centers

• Deep dive technical Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify fungible and interchangeable components across computer hardware builds, enabling flexible material allocation and reducing supply risk

• Develop scalable models to assess optimal placement of inventory across regions, allowing manufacturing partners quick access to materials and minimizing lead times

• Own regional inventory placement strategy to optimize delivery timelines and balance cost, speed, and resilience across the global manufacturing network

• Drive execution of global warehousing footprint expansion and optimization to meet aggressive timelines dictated by material-constrained environments

• Partner with procurement and logistics teams to establish material flow mechanisms that maximize reuse opportunities and improve AWS's overall circular supply chain

Cross-Functional Program Management

• Lead a cross-functional program spanning multiple organizations to support AWS manufacturing operations at global scale

• Orchestrate delivery across supply chain, hardware engineering, vendor operations, quality, and deployment teams to ensure seamless rack production and shipment

• Serve as the primary escalation point for production blockers, driving rapid resolution by engaging the right teams and senior leadership when needed

• Serve as the primary Amazon point of contact for contract manufacturing partners across global sites—owning the operational relationship, driving accountability for delivery commitments, and leading executive-level reviews that resolve escalations and shape long-term partnership strategies

• Coordinate with NPI teams to integrate new rack types into existing build plan frameworks, ensuring manufacturing readiness criteria are met before production ramp

• Partner with supply chain and procurement teams to align material forecasts with build plan demand signals across multiple planning horizons

Data, Tooling & Mechanisms

• Design and maintain dashboards and analytical tools that provide real-time visibility into build plan health, CTB status, and site-level production metrics

• Develop scalable mechanisms and automation to reduce manual effort in build plan creation, status tracking, and executive reporting

• Define and track KPIs/SLAs for manufacturing execution including on-time delivery, CTB Full Kit percentage, EPURD accuracy, and site utilization

• Craft compelling data-driven narratives and decision documents for weekly business reviews and executive updates, translating complex operational data into strategic recommendations that shape investment priorities and capacity allocation decisions

• Drive adoption of AI and automation tools to improve forecasting accuracy and accelerate decision-making across the build plan lifecycle

Risk Management & Strategic Planning

• Proactively identify risks to build plan delivery including material shortages, vendor capacity constraints, quality escapes, and logistics disruptions

• Develop and maintain risk mitigation playbooks and contingency plans for high-impact production scenarios

• Drive strategic initiatives to improve manufacturing agility including multi-site qualification, flexible build allocation, and vendor diversification

• Define and drive the 1–3 year manufacturing operations roadmap, identifying capability gaps, automation opportunities, and network expansion priorities that position AWS to scale rack delivery while improving cost efficiency and delivery speed—influencing long-range capacity planning by providing data-driven insights on manufacturing constraints and site capability gaps

• Write high-quality narratives, decision documents, and strategic recommendations that shape manufacturing investment priorities and capacity planning decisions at the VP level. Communicate crisply, surfacing trade-offs, risks, and data-backed recommendations with clarity that enables rapid executive decision-making

A day in the life

You are the Chief Rack Whisperer, the Global Rack Wrangler, the Material Flow Maestro and the Senior Cloud Factory Conductor. You are The Person Who Makes Sure the Internet Actually Gets Built and the Head of "Why Isn't This Rack Done Yet?". You also get to be the Senior Orchestrator of Organized Chaos, and above all the Full Kit or Bust owner.

1. Review overnight production output and CTB status across global manufacturing sites, triaging any blockers or missed targets

2. Lead morning cross-functional stand-up with supply chain, vendor operations, and engineering to align on the day's priorities and escalations

3. Deep dive into site-level build plan gaps—analyzing PO vs. CTB Full Kit deltas, reviewing BOM-level material constraints, and coordinating with procurement on material ETAs

4. Assess regional inventory positions and warehouse utilization, adjusting material placement recommendations to support upcoming builds

5. Prepare and present weekly build plan status to senior leadership, highlighting risks, recommending trade-offs, and securing decisions on production priorities

6. Work with contract manufacturing partners on capacity planning, production sequencing, and continuous improvement initiatives

7. Collaborate with NPI and hardware engineering teams on upcoming rack type introductions, ensuring manufacturing readiness gates are on track

8. Close out the day by reviewing next-week production forecasts and ensuring material flow plans are aligned with demand signals
