Amazon Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Antenna Calibration team is responsible for the calibration of all of the phased array antennas for Amazon Leo. This includes influence into custom ASIC design, bring-up of hardware, validation of system performance, antenna beampattern measurement, simulation, high-volume manufacturing, as well as the design and development of multiple software applications to carry out our areas of ownership.

As a Systems Manager for antenna calibration, you will collaborate with systems architects, hardware engineering design teams & FW/SW design teams to build and test systems containing FPGAs, 1P/3P custom ASICs, and RF Hardware. You will be responsible for key aspects of phased array antenna system design, simulation, measurement, calibration and optimization. You will be working in a collaborative environment with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver advanced high-performance phased array antenna systems. In this role, your responsibilities will include:

路 Designing and implementing phased array calibration systems, signals, processing and algorithms

路 Performance analysis and design trade-off studies of phased arrays

路 End-to-end modeling, simulation and analysis of baseband/RF/antenna systems

路 Lab measurement and validation of performance of antennas, and phased array systems and subsystems

路 Working with antenna, modem, RF and Digital teams to simulate, measure and fine-tune radio designs

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.



Qualifications

- 5+ years of managing system or software development teams experience

- 7+ years of relevant hands-on systems engineering and administrative work in networking, storage systems, operating systems experience

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

- Experience in managing system or software development teams

- Experience in agile software development methodology

- 7+ years of work experience in Aerospace/Semiconductor/Consumer Electronics industry

- Experience in DSP techniques, digital modulation, radio architecture, line-up analysis, RF system design

- Experience with lab test equipment like VSAs, VSGs, VNAs and Oscilloscopes



Extended Qualifications

- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

- Experience with Agile engineering practices (Kanban, continuous delivery, etc.)

- Experience with AWS platforms, services, and design patterns

- MS in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of work experience or PhD with 5+ years of experience

- Experience working with phased arrays, calibration and antenna measurement

- Experience with one of the mainstream antenna simulation tools (CST/HFSS)

- Good understanding of modern wireless technologies (OFDM/MIMO) and medium access procedures

- Familiarity with basics of probability and estimation theory

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $149,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $258,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
