We are looking for a Sustainability Specialist to join our growing Sustainability Science team. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, operations, and business customers, to implement sustainability insights and drive the implementation of sustainability measurement solutions.
As a Sustainability Specialist, you will use your specialized expertise in sustainability impact assessment to help business teams understand their impacts and orient themselves around the potential solution space.
You will prototype and conduct comprehensive sustainability assessments, or modify existing analyses and models to identify opportunities for impact measurement, process improvements, and strategic decision-making. Leveraging life cycle assessment (LCA) results, sustainability metrics, and advanced data analysis techniques, you will inform product development, operational strategies, and business decisions.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of sustainability principles and impact measurement methodologies, including life cycle assessment (LCA) and advanced data analysis methods.
Proven experience utilizing sustainability data and modeling techniques to inform strategic decisions and drive business impact is essential. You should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex sustainability findings to design and implement practical solutions.
Key job responsibilities
- Maintain, update, and establish internal standards, emission factor datasets, methodology documentation, and other resources related to impact measurement science.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and conduct comprehensive sustainability assessments and analyses to identify opportunities for sustainable design, process improvements, and strategic decision-making.
- Evaluate and ensure the quality and reliability of sustainability studies, assessments, and data sources, establishing robust methodologies and best practices.
- Resolve footprint measurement requests and sustainability-related inquiries from stakeholders, providing accurate and timely assessments, analyses, and recommendations.
- Work with research scientists to implement innovative sustainability modeling tools and frameworks to drive business impact and support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, data science, sustainability, or a related field.- Minimum 4 years of experience in sustainability measurement, life cycle assessment (LCA), or related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of sustainability principles, methodologies, and measurement assessment techniques, including LCA.
- Proven experience utilizing sustainability data, analyses, and modeling techniques to inform decisions and drive business impact.
Extended Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher (e.g., Ph.D.) in a relevant field.- Proficiency with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and data analysis tools; experience with AWS features (S3, Redshift) is a plus.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving initiatives.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices related to sustainability assessments.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
