The AWS Sustainability Tech Products Team is seeking a dedicated Sustainability Specialist to lead the development and implementation of advanced carbon measurement and reporting solutions. This role is crucial in supporting AWS's progress towards Amazon's net zero carbon goal through precise quantification and verification of our environmental impact.The AWS Infrastructure Sustainability Tech organization builds solutions to integrate environmental sustainability data across AWS infrastructure and operations to support AWS progress towards Amazon’s net zero carbon goal. The AWS Sustainability Tech Sustainability Specialist will partner with product managers, engineers, scientists, and business leaders to develop solutions for measurement, accounting, and assurance. This role will directly impact the product feature roadmap of the AWS Customer Carbon Footprint Tool. The candidate will work collaboratively with stakeholders from across AWS Infrastructure teams to develop sustainability datasets and product offerings aligned with corporate sustainability goals.
The ideal candidate has specialized knowledge of corporate sustainability methodology, accounting, assurance, and reporting best practices and strong analytical abilities. Data-driven decision-making is at the core of Amazon’s culture. The ideal candidate has expertise applying sustainability principles to real world data and accounting challenges. They have interacted directly with customers, vendors, or external partners and built trusting relationships with business partners. They have a passion for helping customers on their sustainability journey and launching innovative products.
Key job responsibilities
* Design and develop new AWS Sustainability Tech product offerings and datasets
* Engage with customers and external partnerships to identify opportunities to improve the customer experience
* Evaluate and ensure data quality and reliability of sustainability data sources; establish new sustainability metrics
* Partner with product managers, engineers, and scientists to support the launch of new product features that will yield benefits to Amazon customers
* Resolve complex sustainability-related inquiries from customers and provide recommendations to product engineering teams how to implement long-term fixes
* Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge on current and emerging tools for carbon footprinting and sustainability data products

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, data science, environmental science, or other Sustainability-related field* 5+ years of relevant work experience in sustainability reporting or sustainability-focused program or product roles
* 2+ years of experience analyzing data with tools such as SQL, Excel VBA or pivot tables, or other data analytics platforms
Extended Qualifications
* Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, business or related degree (MBA/Masters/PhD)* Demonstrated understanding of corporate sustainability reporting regulations, standards, best practices, and modeling techniques
* Experience managing large datasets and analyzing energy, water, carbon, and other sustainability data
* Proven ability to interface successfully with senior leadership, suppliers, and customers
* Familiarity with AWS services and data center infrastructure
* Excellent speaking-listening-writing skills and attention to details
* Be a passionate self-starter

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
