The AWS Sustainability team is looking for a results-oriented Senior Sustainability Specialist to design and scale strategies that will dramatically reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our supply chain. This role will work hand in hand with our Supply Chain team and senior leadership to drive innovative solutions supporting our Climate Pledge goal of Net-Zero Carbon by 2040. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of carbon accounting and management practices, familiarity with life cycle assessments (LCAs), and sophisticated understanding of the GHG Protocol. You'll combine this technical knowledge with business savvy to translate sustainability imperatives into compelling business cases, apply systems thinking to complex, fast-moving problems, influence executive stakeholders, and drive the implementation of effective decarbonization strategies. This role requires a dynamic individual who can manage technical sustainability data, understand business drivers, influence executive stakeholders, clearly communicate complex topics to diverse audiences, and drive our commitment to reducing carbon through practical, scalable solutions.
Key job responsibilities
• Develop business cases that align sustainability initiatives with organizational objectives
• Influence executive decision-making through compelling data-driven recommendations
• Partner with key suppliers to set targets and implement decarbonization roadmaps
• Act as sustainability business partner to internal AWS procurement teams
• Advise hardware engineering teams on designing for sustainability and reducing embodied carbon
• Develop tools and frameworks to evaluate supplier sustainability performance
• Manage complex, cross-functional sustainability initiatives across a global supply chain
• Build internal processes and governance structures to support program scaling
A day in the life
In this role, you will work closely with customers across all of AWS, including engineering, procurement, and services teams to develop programs that meet our sustainability goals. You will go deep with key partners to learn their processes and priorities and you will share your expertise to help them succeed.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Material Science), or other Sustainability-related field, or 5+ years of additional field-specific work experience.• 5+ years experience developing and executing environmental sustainability programs in the private or public sector
• Experience working across both technical and business functions
• Familiarity with life cycle assessment (LCA) and corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory management
• Candidate must have good written and oral communication skills, be a fast learner and have the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment.
Extended Qualifications
• Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, business or related degree (MBA/Masters/PhD)• 8+ Years experience working in corporate sustainability
• Experience working on supplier decarbonization at a large corporation
• Deep understanding of greenhouse gas accounting, particularly Scope 3 emissions
• Proven ability to interface successfully with senior leadership, suppliers, and customers
• Proven track record of managing large projects from start to finish, including project management, data gathering, problem solving, and communicating recommendations and goals across multiple leadership levels of an organization while meeting tight deadlines;
• Solid understanding of the electronics industry, including the specific challenges related to products and its supply chain and their impacts on carbon footprint

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
