Description
This role will be the bridge between big-picture sustainability goals and real action on the ground—helping our grocery stores and distribution centers turn environmental commitments into everyday wins. In this role, you'll empower site teams with the tools, training, and support they need to reduce waste, increase food donations, steward water, and make a measurable impact, all while solving the challenge of making sustainability simple and actionable for thousands of team members across our footprint.Key job responsibilities
Program Execution & Operations:
• Facilitate execution of sustainability programs (food donation, waste management, water stewardship) in stores and DCs with Store Ops teams
• Lead "Sustainability Support" for 50 lowest-performing sites, co-developing action plans for waste and donation improvements
• Develop and maintain sustainability content for SOPs, ensuring clarity for store implementation
• Translate sustainability goals into actionable store-level processes with cross-functional partners
• Monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities
• Serve as primary contact for Green Mission Ambassador program, providing monthly engagement content
Communications & Training:
• Create compelling communications driving awareness and engagement at sites
• Develop training content on sustainability programs and best practices for store teams
• Design change management strategies supporting program adoption with WWGS Ops
• Ensure consistent messaging across all channels
Reporting & Analytics:
• Manage reporting systems and scorecards tracking program performance metrics
• Analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities
• Provide regular leadership updates on progress, challenges, and wins
• Scope dashboards and visualizations making sustainability data accessible for site teams
A day in the life
You'll be the single-threaded leader for food donation and water stewardship across WWGS sites—bridging sustainability strategy with store operations. Day-to-day, you're analyzing performance data, partnering with Ops teams to embed programs into workflows, creating SOPs and training content, supporting your 50 focus sites with action plans, and running the Green Mission Ambassador program. You'll also build dashboards, track metrics, and communicate wins. Beyond the basics, you'll drive culture change—making sustainability feel natural, not burdensome—and directly impact our 2030 goals. Think strategic problem-solving meets hands-on site support.
About the team
The WWGS Sustainability team tackles waste, packaging, climate, and social responsibility; this role is nested in the Circularity sub-team, which focuses on waste, packaging, and data analytics. We're a tight-knit, collaborative crew who genuinely support each other to hit ambitious goals. Qualifications
- 3+ years of program or project management experience- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
Extended Qualifications
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience working in a physical store

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
