We are seeking an exceptional Support Engineer III to join our Security Issues Management team. In this role, you will:

- Design, build, and maintain scalable security solutions that empower Amazon's builders to maintain secure systems.

- Develop and support tools used by all Amazonians to enhance our security posture.

- Solve complex technical and business problems with ingenuity and simplicity.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security best practices across Amazon's environments.

Key job responsibilities

- Serve as the primary point of contact for builders and security partners, providing expert guidance and support in resolving issues related to our security tools.

- Develop, maintain, and optimize team-related application security metrics and customer-facing documentation to ensure clear communication and continuous improvement.

- Utilize scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate processes, create tools, and enhance existing security solutions.

- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues within team-owned infrastructure, conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions.

- Support and enhance a suite of internally developed analysis tools, including writing and modifying scripts to improve functionality and efficiency.

- Leverage SQL for data collection, preparation, and analysis to support security initiatives and inform decision-making processes.

- Continuously improve and streamline support processes through scripting and automation, increasing team efficiency and reducing response times.

About the team

Amazon is continuously innovating new services and features for customers. To keep up with that innovation, the Security Issues Management team raises the bar for security by providing tools to manage security issues to builders, security teams, and leaders.

- Assist builders and development teams with information, and reminders to efficiently address security issues in their domain

- Drive efficiencies at scale through thoughtful but deliberate automation that raises the security bar and eliminates vulnerability classes.

- Provide innovative solutions to maintain pace with emerging technologies.

- Partner with other security teams, engineers, builders, and security practitioners to improve security.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience

- Experience scripting in modern programming languages

- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems



Extended Qualifications

- Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development

- Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software RAID

- Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $67,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $150,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
